The main ingredient is a hauntingdramatic organ. Sounds sorta lika 1960's soap opera sound, or at least the sound that I think I remember as being from 1960's soap operas. Like the Magnus Chord organ, only better.
Also the song is slower. There is also an excellantly clunky guitar, which de-tunes into the most casual solo ever.
The Lost Blues tune is the demo, The cd single is the put-together art-piece.
