Subject: What Ronnie meant to Me

Although RB Enterprises have decided to retire Ronnie the Ruler, this is not because (as was reported), we fell out, more that we drifted apart and felt that it was time for Ronnie to leave cutting straight edges to newer technology.

I will never forget the first time I met Ronnie. Back then we were a fairly primitive outfit. It took hours to make each card and we hadn't even finished the spoiler list. However, after we printed out our first card (a day of great jubilation and monumentality), Snap introduced me to his friend Ronnie. He cut the card to shape quickly and efficiently although I regret to say that at that point there were bigger things on our minds than the best way of cuttign straight edges.

However, as we matured as an organisation, Ronnie was always there cutting edges for us and we began to appreciate him more and more. Although being in product development he was not part of my team he soon became like an old friend, an integral part of the card making ritual. Although Snap's computer was always crashing and we had a constant shortage of photos, Ronnie was always there for us. He became our most reliable piece of equipment.

Some might argue that we took Ronnie for granted, maybe they are right. I suspected we were when he threw a tantrum and destroyed the first ever copy of 'beaten by a girl'. Mind you, he never did like me as much as Snap.

Anyway I wish Ronnie a fantastic retirement and in his honour we have immortalised him in some scanned photos (see next months 'Song of the Month' for these pictures). So long Ronnie, we salute you.

Piemaster
