Subject: Lost respect for Mayor Rudy

Up until now, the Mayor had been so supportive and such an anchor during this time for the FDNY. But now in a move to "protect" the firefighters, he has actually alienated them.

The Mayor says he wants to reduce the number of firefighters who are searching through the rubble for their brothers because the site is no longer safe enough.

Since when was the site ever safe? And since when is any rescue effort by a firemen considered safe? These men risk their lives every single day for strangers! So now when the time comes for them to recover their loved ones, it is no longer acceptable for them to be there???

If Ground Zero isn't safe for our Bravest, then make it safe for them to be there! Bring in some people who can make sure that there are preventive measures being taken to ensure that no further lives are lost in the midst of the rubble and send them back in there to claim their fellow firefighters!

Rudy and Thomas Von Essen should be ashamed of themselves for trying to pull them out of the recovery mission when so many families are still waiting for the news that their loved ones have been found and been treated with the proper respect owed to a man or a woman in uniform.
