Subject: Some other hints for the Devastator

Hi Everybody!

Some hints that we didn't put in the Manual, but as we talk to customers and reviewers, they have come up.

For setup: if you have a USB keyboard AND a PS/2 mouse, you will be fine even though we do not mention this kind of setup. Just attach the Devastator to the keyboard port of your PC, using the PS/2 keyboard cable we have provided for you(connected from the COMP port of the Devastator). You will have no need to attach anything to the KEYBD port of the Devastator, this is the pass-through port and if you have a USB keyboard it is unused anyway.

For games that use the Spinner: Once the Devastator is attached to the serial port, you will have gone through the simple process of adding a two-button serial mouse to your system. Both the trackball and spinner can easily be tested in Windows, or with DOS and DOS diagnostic programs, by moving them, and the mouse cursor will move according to the direction provided by you on the trackball/spinner.

In MAME32 especially, make sure that your spinner games have the mouse input button clicked on in the Properties for that game, under controllers. Otherwise, you will not get any input from the spinner/trackball. The defualt options should be set for this, as well as each game itself.

MAME on!

Jim
