Hi Frank!

I am glad you enjoyed the Maximum PC review, now if I can only get to see the review myself-they promissed a free issue to me! :)

We have discussed a 6-button design. This is going to be the "Centurion" model, HCS 9908C. It will have the same chasis as the Devastator, but without the left handed buttons. We also have a chance to have the 3" trackball due to increased space available-but that may add slightly to the cost. I order the Devastator boxes from a local lumber company with the box already assembled for me, so the Centurion would have to have a new top panel already installed in it from the get go.

Now, as to other custom work. We can have buttons on the side, as well as the joysticks with pushbuttons. The interface we use, the I-Pac, allows for a total of 8 different inputs per joystick, so we are pretty flexible as to what can be added. The Centurion could come with two pushbutton joysticks if the customer wanted-the footprint is the same as the joysticks we use now, and they would need to specify 4 or 8-way operation.

I am going to have the Autocad work done this weekend to the top panel to reflect both a 2 1/4" trackball, and the 3" trackball, in addition to the 6-button design.

Something that I need to say first, too many buttons would make the panel very unwieldly. That is, having buttons everywhere on the same top panel. There is a space limitation-especially to the tightening bolts underneath that noone sees. But, a 6-button design is more than able to be done.

Frank, there is a way now for all existing Devastator top panels to have six buttons, and the pushbutton joysticks. It would mean that the pushbuttons would be like this:
o o o o
o o o o
o o O o o

per each stick. This would be a minimal addition, just drill the new holes. You would have one free button left to use. Tell me what you think.

Feel free to contact me, either here or by my email address.

Kindest regards,
