It was something of a pop fad to get through them all back in the '70s. I finished up with The Hobbit, probably my least favorite of all. I also remember reading a new 1st edition paperback edition of Harvard Lampoon's Bored of the Rings parody while still in high school, which somehow made it all seem so much more worthwhile.
