Hello again!! -- Jennifer H. - Concord, NC, 08:27:53 11/13/01 Tue (NoHost/204.211.203.2)

Hello SSgt. I just read over your last two emails, and I was just crying. It is so touching what you do. I am sure you don't think so, but everyone in this great country, I am sure tends to agree with me. I can not even imagine going out on a mission of that kind with my baby brother, the uncertianity of not knowing what you are getting into. All I can say is bless your heart, I know this stuff ways on your mind and soul, and even though you are a tough Marine, I know it has to be weighing on you. You need to know that everyone, loves you and wants you to come home with the mission complete, and I know there is especially one little girl that will be elated to see her Daddy! And for you, that will probaly be the best day of your life yet!!
I saw that you are considering not re enlisting. You know you need to follow your heart. Your baby girl, will only be a baby girl once, and you should consider her in every dicision you make. I understand you being a bit scared (I don't want to offend you by saying scared) But baby doll if you can do what you are doing in the USMC, you can do anything, and without even knowing you, I would guarentee it. That is just my thoughts on the subject, but most importantly you should do what makes you happy, b/c we (and I mean US citizens) are finding out that tommorrow could never come. Here is my question... If you died today would you be happy with the choices you have made? If so, then you are doing something right, if not do what you have to do to make yourself happy. My thoughts and prayers are still with you, and I still want to be invited to that welcome home party when you return!! I will go this time with this thought... Don't frown..you never know who is falling in love with your smile!! Roll on boys! And tell everyone I truly love them and want all you home!

Jennifer

Just to say "Hi" -- Tiffany, 07:48:51 11/13/01 Tue (dsl-64-192-119-45.telocity.com/64.192.119.45)

I read your compelling reinactment of your ground mission. I must say, from my end, it was frightening to read. I can only imagine what it was like to actually be a part of that. I was impressed with the compassion that you that you had for your brother and your soilders. I know it is a tough positon for you, but we Americans sleep well at night knowing that we have strong military personnel like yourself and the others stationed on your ship. Our security lies in your hands and I must say that I feel quite secure. I hope that you guys get to come home soon. It would be a blessing to your families to have you guys home for the holidays. I hope it happens for you. It would ge a great gift for your daughter, I am sure. I am an avid Ace & TJ listener and I wait for word from you each week. Keep up the great work. God bless you and keep you safe!

Staff Sgt. Lucy -- Page, 06:41:53 11/13/01 Tue (NoHost/63.97.14.3)

Staff Sgt. Lucy,
I wanted to drop you a line and let you know how proud I am of all you guys out there fighting this war. Without you, America would not be the great nation that it is today. I pray for you every day and look forward to your safe return home.
I just read thru all your letters (I got a bit behind over the past week or so) and almost cried~not sure if it was because I was sad or because I was so happy and proud! I too have a young daughter and I understand your confusion about enlisting for another 4 years. I can't even comprehend not hugging and talking to my "baby" everyday. I know that you feel confused about your future, but please know that if you follow your heart, everything else will fall into place. Your daughter will be so proud of you once she is old enough to understand exactly what you are doing for America and other free nations around the world.
Please keep safe and come home to us soon.

OOOOOOOO RRRRAHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- Rae, 21:24:43 11/12/01 Mon (spider-wo014.proxy.aol.com/205.188.200.24)

Hey guys. I don't know if you heard, but another plane crashed in Queens, New York. The plane crashed into a subdivision area. The reporters say it was not terrorists but they are still investigating, just in case.

On a more positive note, about leaving the Corps. Never doubt or second guess your decision. You will always be a Marine. No matter what. But your daughter won't always be daddy's little girl. She will grow up before you know it. What you do out there is beyond commendable and above and beyond more than many people could or would do. You are still young and so is your baby girl. Enjoy her while you can, and while she will let you. You could always go reserves for a while and go back active duty if things don't pan out. That way you won't totally be out of the loop.

Keep up the good work!! We need to hear from you. You keep it real for us back here going about our daily lives. I would love to send ya'll some Aeorsmith to listen to. Now, that is what they should play on the weekend blast off. The Harry Potter movie is coming out this weekend. And Monsters, Inc. I bet your baby girl would love that one. The weather here is about upper 60's, low 70's during the day and about 30's at night. The skies are clear and beautiful. Do you get any news or newspapers out there?

Be safe, we miss you devildogs!!!

SSgt Lucy and buddies,
(Sorry I wasn't sure of what to call the guys you work
with.)
I am just a college student trying to get through so I can become an elementary school teacher, and I felt I had to say something. I listened to you on the radio today when you called in. I'm glad that you have decided to do this because I did not know that some of the children in my classes that I am teaching have family memebers aboard the Kitty Hawk. I don't know who they are kin to or anything like that, but it amazing how far reaching this is. I have five and six year olds who are very proud to know somebody who is doing everything they can to defend our country. I am thankful of everything I can do because I am safe, thanks you y'all. I have often been teased because I have friends in every branch of the military, and I will say hands down (in my opinion) the Marines have the toughest job. Thank you for all that you do, and tell your guys that if they have little nieces of nephews, cousins, sons or daughters in school in Fort Mill, SC they are very proud of them. I promise you that. Keep up the good work!!

SSGT Lucy -- Cole, 16:31:16 11/12/01 Mon (166-82-52-206.cncrnc.vnet.net/166.82.52.206)

Dear SSGT and all of your troops,

As the child of a military family I have a special connection with soldiers everywhere. I wanted to take a minute and thank you for all that you do. It takes a special type of person to choose the life of a soldier, a person who cares more about others than themselves. You are a different breed of man, one who deserves to be honored for the service you so gladly give. I am so proud of you, your troops, and the memebers of my own family who have recently been globally repositioned to aid in Operation Enduring Freedom. You are all in my thoughts and prayers continually, as are your families and children.
If by chance you have a soldier who has no family to speak of, as many of them do, please email me and i'll be more than happy to begin correspondance. Until you safely return you are in my thoughts and prayers, but your sacirfice will live in my heart forever. thank you, and God Bless!

It was great to hear you on the radio today. I hope things are going great for you and the guys. Can't wait to hear from all of you again. I hope that it is sooner than later. May God keep you all safe. I can only hope that all of America's children will grow up to learn what great heroes that the military is, and not just the policeman and fireman. Although they do play a huge roll, but they are able to play that roll because of people like you. Hope that you have a great Thanksgiving next week. God Bless!!!!!!

Thanks! -- Betsy, 11:49:13 11/12/01 Mon (NoHost/205.152.116.11)

I wanted to write and say how thankful we are for all the sacrifices that you make for us each day. Please know that you are in our prayers. I have twin daughters that turned 16 this week and I thank God each day that there are people like you and all the men and women in the military that fight to prtect us and that my daughters will possibly have a chance to have a future in a safe country.
Also, I am a school secretary and we just had a wonderful Veteran's Day Program. We had a veteran (he was present the day Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japenese)here and he was presented with an american flag that had been flown over the White House. It was a very moving ceremony. We are also selling t-shirts through our PTO that are in support of America. I will pray for the person who sent your precious little girl home for wanting to show her support for her daddy as he fights to protect us all. I will pray that he has an understanding and a change in his heart.
Please be safe.

I am so proud of him and other people that have fought for what I have today!! Like I heard several times yesterday that Freedom does not come free! Thanks for paying the price.

As a former 03 let me say I wish I could be there with ya. Thanx for sacrifice you and the rest of your guys are making so, it has not gone unnoticed. I also wanted to say happy birthday to you and all the Marines abroad. I heard your comments the other day on the radio about to get out or not when your day comes. STAY IN !!! I have been out for a few years now and a day doesn't go by that I don't miss it or think about it. There is nothing in the 1st CIV/DIV that can compare to what it is to be a Marine. Well, I'll leave it at that. Take care, keep your eyes on your 6 and when and if that time comes...get some.

Thinking about you! -- Tina, 07:02:27 11/12/01 Mon (NoHost/207.232.181.254)

I just wanted you to know that every school is not like your daughters. I teach 6th through 8th grade and I as well as my students have been wearing flag t-shirts, sweat shirts, and pins since Sept. the 11. I am a single mother of two and both of my children was in a Veterans Day program on Friday! Everyone in the program wore "God Bless America" sweat shirts. My son reads your emails as soon as they are posted. You are now his hero! We are very proud of everything that you are doing! We are keeping you in our prayers and pray that you will have a safe return home to be with your daughter. As for your relistment, I know that is a hard desicion. My ex husband is also a military man. I still support him in his desicion in making the military his life, I just didn't support him in making a life with a 18 year old. I will be keeping you in my prays that you make the right desicion for you and your daughter!

"...liberty, and justice for all." -- Lori, 06:52:20 11/12/01 Mon (NoHost/198.86.116.4)

To Sgt. Lucy and the other fighting marie corps,
I am just starting to make it out into the "real word." I am now understanding what it means to be a significant citizen, unlike yourselves. It takes a special kind of person to get out there and take in all the hurt and anger that the marines, navy and ary men do. It's by no means an easy job and I'am proud that I have men and women out there like yourselves doing the job that I know I couldn't do. I've heard the stories that the marines can get a bit cocky, but the people that feel like saying that now better get down on there hands and knees and realize it's their life you ar saving through this time of warfare. Just keep on listening to those good ol' tunes of Gun's and Roses and I will think about you guys when I hear the tune of Civil War. Rock On you all and keep up the good work, determination, and good spirits. You have a lot of people praying for you including myself. Thank you for your efforts and God bless!

Another 4 years... -- LisaT, 06:40:17 11/12/01 Mon (spxyric1.bankofamerica.com/171.161.160.10)

My husband was in the US Navy for ten years as an AO. He served on the Midway, Ranger, and George Washington. He was on the Midway during the Gulf War. We have a son who is seven and a daughter who is 4. Chad missed a lot of time with Dillon during the first years and only missed one year of Caras. He wanted to stay in and finish his time, but decided that the re-en bonus and big monthly check for the rest of his life would never make up for the time he would have missed watching our children grow up. We didn't think we would get jobs out here in the civilian world. Norfolk seem to have more to offer, but theres no place like North Carolina. So we moved back home to K-town so our children could be with family. Now I work at the "Big" Bank as a Securities Analyst and Chat works at FUNB as a Support Analyst. Which is a long way from building things that go booom!! But it is all worth it. So you have to decide what is more important to you and what you can live with. They are only little for a short time! Thanks for what you have done so far. Good Luck with the choice you make.

Thank You -- Stacey & Ateeba, 05:51:03 11/12/01 Mon (NoHost/199.230.67.125)

First, I would like to take this opportunity to Thank You. For being there and protecting us and for sharing with us. Even with this horrible tragedy, a lot of people are still carrying tunnel vision in perspective of all that is continuing. I'm a single mom, raising a man (he's actually 8 years old) and have been saddened by all of this. I have decided to share your stories with him so he fully understands the whole gammut of the tragedy. He's askes a lot of questions, some we know you cannot answer. But, all in all, we are grateful that you and the rest of the squads on the Kiity Hawk are protecting us. You are right about us sleeping, eating, playing, and working safely knowing that you will not let anything happen to us.

On another note, every Friday my sons wears his "I love America" T-shirt and hasn't been sent home. As a matter of fact, I see more and more children wearing shirts like these. As for you deciding to re-enlist, go by your instincts and do what your heart desires. Whatever you choose, it will be the right choice and you can't loose either way. Your daughter will love you know matter what and be proud to have you as a father.

Take care of yourselves and each other. It's too bad you cannot receive packages. I usually send a BIG box of homemade cookies for Christmas to those over seas and would love to send it to all of you to share.

Stacey

My son wants to write a few words here.

dear sir,

thank you for making my schol safe. me and mom read all that you do and talk about it. she makes me feel saf becuse you are ther protecing us please make sur you get the bad men
be carful and dont get hurt it sonds excitng wher you are and whut you do. mom sum times cries becus you shudnt be ther and we shuld be in peace.

Dear Staff Sgt. Lucy,

My sister and I have been reading your letters and just wanted to say "Thanks" by returning you a letter. Kerri is 16 and I'm 23. I can only imagine being out in the middle of the ocean with no way to see my family. We are so proud of all of you for doing a great job. We are trying to keep the American spirit by flying flags and wearing our "Proud to Be An American" shirts. Americans sleep better at night knowing that you guys are watching over us. God Bless and God be with you, always.

P.S. On your remarks of reinlisting, just pray about it and God will show you the way!!!!!

Dear Sgt "Lucy" and company of heroes:
Veteran's Day 2001...The accounting of your recent mission makes me so painfully yet so much more pridefully aware that some of God's youngest children know the dark side of "sweet liberty". You reminded me so vividly, the irony, when you spoke of looking into the eyes of the camouflaged faces of your squads. Being attired for battle doesn't, after all, camouflage the soul! Dear Brave men and women, my heart is so filled with admiration and appreciation. I wish you could feel what America feels about you! I send a mother's love. P.S. If after this tour, Sgt Lucy, you put on your "civvies" for good and enjoy a life with your daughter, you will still be a hero. It is a win/win situation.Your daugher will love you whatever you choose. Thanks for opening your heart to America via E-mail. It means so much. May God keep you all safe till next time. Love and prayers, "Mama C."

I heard recently on the news that you guys felt a loss.I am so sorry.Though it may not have been someone in your squad,as a marine on board,I'm sure he was one of the family.I'm not a religious person, however I do believe in the power of prayer, and as you now have all 11 listeners praying for you, your marine family and your landlubbing family,I truly believe everything will be fine.C'mon, with all 11 of us praying, you CAN'T lose!!!!!!IF,and I again emphasize,IF you or another member on board get a chance, feel free to write back,I'll be a shoulder if you (or they)need it or a sounding board for all the frustrations(anger-wise) you may be feeling.Come home safe and sound and hit 'em once for me!!!LOVE TO ALL THE GUYS AND DOLLS ON THE HIGH SEAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You!!! I know those words will never be enough. I have seen the caring and giving side of everyone these last few weeks. These tragedies have touched my heart. I cry for all the innocent lives that were taken, for all the families that have a loved one now gone, but I also rejoice knowing that there are so many people out there taking a stand and defending our country our freedom! You guys are my heroes. You make me feel safer. More confident that our country will be united and victorious throught this battle.Keep the faith and remember you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Staff Sgt Lucy I know that you are debating wether or not to re-enlist. The advice I have for you is do what is to pray and then do what is in your heart because your heart will never lead you wrong.

Praying for you in Lincolnton NC

Angels in the Night -- Sarena, 20:03:11 11/10/01 Sat (1Cust193.tnt1.lenior.nc.da.uu.net/63.16.26.193)

To Sgt. Lucy and all,
I had to write you a message to tell you how very proud you make me. My brother is now a Marine; part of your brotherhood, part of your family. He is a changed man, leaving home a boy, graduating something more. Never before understanding what being a Marine stood for, seeing him transformed into the man he is today has opened my eyes to a whole new universe. I am a 22 year old woman who never really thought about how lucky I am. Reading your e-mails have made me realize, to some extent, the luck that I share with every other American. Thank you seems unworthy to be said to you and your men and the many other military memebers, but it's the only words I can muster. Sgt. Lucy, I ask you to tell each and every Marine in your reach that a young woman in North Caroina thanks them for all they do, for the risks they take, for doing their jobs. May God Bless every mission you take because you are all our Angels in the Night.
Looking forward to your next e-mail,

* * * * YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST * * * * -- Penny, 19:18:28 11/10/01 Sat (spider-wa053.proxy.aol.com/205.188.192.43)

Hello Staff Sgt Lucy, baby brother, and all aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. First of all I would like to say " Happy Birthday Marines" YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST keep up the good work. My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you and I pray that all of you return home to your friends, family, and loved ones safely. You guys are the BOMB.(no punt intended)
SSGT Lucy, I have been keeping up with your emails on Ace & TJ and also reading them on the website. I have enjoyed them all and look forward to the next one. Your emails make me feel like I am a little closer to whats going on over there. In your last email you said you had to decide if you wanted to re-inlist. Have you decided yet? I know this must be a really tough time to be dealing with that but you will figure out what is the best thing for you to do. I bet your little girl hopes that what ever you do that it brings you closer to where she is. That was sweet when you told your little brother "I Love You" on the Huey. I can see why he wants to be like his bubbie. You seem like you are very caring and wonderful person. He is lucky to have you there with him watching after him. With what you guys are going through it can't hurt to have an extra eye watching out for you.
I don't think I ever took the time before to appreciate you guys for all that you do for us, people like me that you don't even know. But I do appreciate you and I want to say "Thank You" for fighting to make it safer for us to live and espically for single mothers like myself to be able put my kids to bed at night without having to be frightened because I don't don't have a man in the house. Since my divorce a few years ago I have not been lucky enough to find Mr Right and its good to know that I live in a country where its safe for a woman to raise her kids alone without fear. I love you all for all that you give to this great nation. It takes brave and couragious men and women to do the jobs that that our military do. I thank God everyday for you. I know I could not do your job and I just want to thank you for being brave enough to do what the rest of us can't. God Bless and take care you are forever in my heart and always on my mind.
Penny ROLL TIDE we finally won today 24-17

thank you -- Amanda, 16:43:22 11/10/01 Sat (spider-th063.proxy.aol.com/152.163.213.73)

I am a high school student in Gastonia, and I was absolutely torn apart watching everything that happened on September 11. We had televisions on in every room of our school, and we did nothing but watch it all day long. Even once I left school, I couldn't stop watching it. After school was out, I went directly to my mom's work (since my mom and grandmother both work there) and I just cried in my mom's arms. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have lost a parent in those buildings. I didn't want to think about losing my mom and not knowing that she knew I love her.
Like everyone else, I have to thank you for all that you are doing. It takes an incredible amount of courage and love for your country to leave your family (especially a four year-old daughter) and go to a place you can't even tell them where you are.
Thank you for defending our country so that we can sleep safely in our beds everynight. Thank you for caring so much that you want to see us all stay safe and free. Thank you for being willing to give your lives for ours. And thank you for loving your country and standing up to protect it from people like these.

I know that our country will survive this together, all because of the brave firefighters, police, and military personel we have in our midst. Thanks to all of you for being there in this great time of troubles in our history. I speak on behalf of my generation when I say this: Thank you for protecting our futures.

Hello from Huntsville, AL -- Trace, 07:19:22 11/10/01 Sat (spider-wc053.proxy.aol.com/205.188.193.43)

I have just finished reading your latest letter to Ace and TJ. I listened to it as they read it on the air, and decided to read it for myself again. I want to thank you and all of the Americans there with you fo rmaking the ultimate sacrifice for me. I am a sixth grade reading teacher in Huntsville, AL. As you probably know, Huntsville is home to Redstone Arsenal. Many of my students' parents are active duty military. After the attacks on September 11, I find myself trying to fill in gaps of information for my students. I have actually been sharing your letters with my students and they all seem to feel much safer with the knowledge that someone is really doing something to take care of them. At their age, some of their parents don't give them enough credit as to their knowledge of the world. I am doing my best to fill in gaps that their parents don't inform them about and your letters really make sense to them. They asked me to e-mail you sometime this weekend to say Happy Veteran's Day. Also, for what it's worth, I know that many young people today (including my generation...I'm 23) do not appreciate our veterans and the military, but my students do! We all love you and are praying for you everyday! But most of all...we THANK YOU!!!! I know you all are very busy, but if there is any spare time, please drop us a line! It would mean so much to the kids. Also, is there any actual address to send mail? We would love to send letters!!

Thank you again for all you do!
Trace Sibley

Thank you -- Barb, 20:10:29 11/09/01 Fri (1Cust230.tnt1.lenior.nc.da.uu.net/63.16.26.230)

Dear Ssgt Lucy,
I would like to thank you and everyone serving our wonderful country. I have mixed emotions about your duties and challenges. War saddens me but I know it is necessary to put an end to terrorism. I'm horrorfied at the extent of evil that has taken place. In my opinion, I think its pathetic that people claim that their acts of terror are for their religious purposes.

Well, I will get off my soapbox. The first time I heard TJ read one of your e-mails on the Friday morning blast off, was a week ago Friday, November 1st. I was getting ready for work while he read it. Tears welled in my eyes as he read your words. I pray for those who serve for America to be strengthened, encouraged, and to make the best decisions possible. And I pray the same for the leaders our country. May God bless you and everyone military member who is away from family, friends, and home to serve our country for freedom. I'm so thankful and grateful to all of you!!! Please keep up the awesome work!!! Barb

Twas The Night Before Christmas ~ Written by a Marine -- No name, 19:47:17 11/09/01 Fri (clt27-252-186.carolina.rr.com/24.27.252.186)

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,

AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,

A SOBERING THOUGHT,

CAME TO MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,

SO DARK AND SO DREARY,

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES,

THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,

OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS,

WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,

THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,

AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE,

A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM,

EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,

BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,

LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER,

HOW MANY LAY ALONE,

ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE,

IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT,

BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,

I DROPPED TO MY KNEES,

AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED,

AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,

"SANTA DON'T CRY,

THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE.

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,

I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,

MY LIFE IS MY GOD,

MY COUNTRY, MY COR."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,

AND SOON DRIFTED TO SLEEP,

I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,

I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,

SO SILENT AND STILL,

AND WE BOTH SHIVERED,

FROM THE COLD EVENING'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE,

ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,

THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR,

SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,

WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,

WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,

IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,

AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT,

"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,

AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

This poem was written by a Marine stationed in
Okinawa Japan. The following is his request. I think it is reasonable:
"Please. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. servicemen and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to Plant this small seed

Sgt.Lucy,
Hi, I'm Ali. I'm in the 7th grade in Fort Mill, SC.
For a year or so now, I've wanted to be a Marine when I grow up. I think you guys are so cool. You are all very brave to go off and fight, alot of people would be scared to do that. I admire you all because my family is safe because you all have the courage to choose this job.
A year ago, I told my friends I wanted to be in the Marines. They laughed at me. I thought that was mean, and they didn't respect you guys and what you do for them. Then one said something about like, "Don't you have to be really special to be a Marine?" They regarded Marines (and other service members) as people who are so brave and strong that they could imagine someone like them becoming one. I hope that makes you feel really good about yourself and you job.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for everything you do. Good luck, and I'll be praying for you and everyone on the Kitty Hawk.

God Bless You,
Ali Lynn

Just wanted to drop a line to say Thank you for defending America. I will pray for your safe return home. And when you get home I'm sure there will be plenty of women that will want to meet you. Just be careful of your choices, some women just want to meet a man because of his social background. Let God do the choosing for ya. Dear Staff Sgt. Lucy,
I would just like to write a quick message to say thank you for all that you do. I am an 8th grade teacher and it amazes me how little everything effects my students. Since September 11th I have listened to many of my children complain that they are tired of hearing about the WTC and the war, but I would like you to know as a teacher how much I pride I have in knowing that you are out there fighting for us. Thank you again and I hope that you are safe and will pray for you!!

SSgt,
I am in a UDP unit at Camp Hansen. I have a good idea what unit your in. When you get done doing your thing on the Kitty Hawk or the Shitty Kitty as I have heard it called, swing by the E-Club at Hansen and I'll buy you some beer. I used to listen to Ace and Tj every morning but as you know being in the Corps kind of makes it hard to do now. As far as your reenlistment goes, I say go for it. I reenlisted last Oct(Oct 2000) and I am kind of glad that I did. Keep up the good work and tell all your Marines Happy Birthday for me. Semper Fi.

RE: Should you re-enlist -- Sarah, 06:48:28 11/09/01 Fri (NoHost/208.216.202.2)

Thought I'd just make a comment on your question to the listeners...I know that's got to be tough, knowing that Marine life is all you know as "work". But I feel like after this ordeal, you will have done your duty in making not only your country, yourself, your family, your daughter (though she's only 4), and the 11 listeners VERY PROUD and honored. I think it would be a relief to know that you could take the next part of your life and dedicate it to teaching your daughter how you were inspired to serve your country, and how proud you are to be able to protect her in yet another way then normal daddys get too. I think that the corps would be glad to offer you the kind of job that would be posting you somewhere close to home, recruiting or something like that. I know you're hearing this everyday, but the comment "thank you" goes without saying, you (all there with you) are showing America what we have to be proud of and reminding us that "someone" is always fighting for our freedom. I don't think that "thank you" is appropriate anymore, I think every soldier of any military branch have officially became every American's personal hero's and you are the angels on our shoulders.

His "group" wears the green shirts and he is Petty Officer Third Class, if that helps any. If you are able to, tell him his sister MISSES HIM VERY MUCH and that all the family says "I Love You, keep up the good work, and we are very proud of you." Sgt., I know you are busy, but IF you could find the time, it would mean a great deal to us if you could deliver this message in person.

Sgt., thank you for your time in reading all of our e-mails and thank you for everything you are doing!

Let me start off by saying thank you. On August 31, 2001 I gave birth a my first baby girl...Then on September 11 a terrible tragedy happened. I was so overwhelmed with fear. The fear of not being able to see my child grow up and have children of her own. I still wonder every day with the chaos ever end. But it's nice to know that brave men like you and women are defending every Americans' freedom and life. I just want to say God bless you and make He keep you safe. Thanks and feel free to email me.

To Re-inlist or Not -- Nicole, 04:42:46 11/09/01 Fri (spxyclt1.bankofamerica.com/171.161.224.10)

To START.....THANK YOU! In regards to re-inlisting.....That is a big question, I have a friend who is in the Navy. He did his time then went civilian, that lasted about a year and he went back into the Navy. So, I guess it just depends on the individual. If I read you letter correctly, you are saying if you re-up you wouldn't be sent out again for 4 years, so you wouldn't miss your daughter growing up??? Or did I get that backwards? I am sure you will choose what is best for you and your family. If you are happy now then as they say..."If it ain't broke don't fix it."
Once again THANK YOU AND EVERYONE ON THAT SHIP! I am not scared of what is to come knowing there are Men and Women out there protecting my right for freedom.
Stay safe!!!
Nicole

As I said I have had many Marine influences in my life and I truly honor and respect what you are doing. Hope all is well with you and everyone aboard the Kitty Hawk, please send my regards to the rest of the guys & girls. Would love to hear from you!!

Question on re-enlisting -- Diana, 18:22:48 11/08/01 Thu (clt27-242-040.carolina.rr.com/24.27.242.40)

Just a message to say, No I do not think you should re-enlist for reasons that pertain to my God-daughter. Her father was in the Navy. While so was being born, her father was on a ship in the middle of the med. Being away so much has really hampered their relationship. She really loves her mom, but daddy is someone she just calls daddy. Her mother really wants another baby("J" is 5 now) but she choose not to for the soul reason that now "L" is out of the Navy he will be able to be apart of a new baby's birth and life, so mom doesn't want my God-daugher "J" to feel left out when daddy has a great relationship with a new baby and not her. My God-daughter is a bright and beautiful creature and I wouldn't wish what has happened between her and her daddy on you or anyone else. On a lighter note, thank you for what you are doing, you and everyone on the USS Kitty Hawk. God bless you all and God bless america.
Diana

A mothers pride -- "Mama C", 08:06:18 11/08/01 Thu (host-209-214-185-131.clt.bellsouth.net/209.214.185.131)

To Sgt "Lucy" and your crew of America's sons and daughters: Only a day after I am informed of this tangible way to communicate my pride and patriotism to the sons and daughters who are living the reality of war on my behalf, my heart weighs heavy as I learn about a sailor on your ship who is overboard and missing still after 24hrs. I hurt so deeply for the despair a fellow "hero" must feel for this tragic human event. You are after all, humans even though you are regarded superhuman in the eyes of America. My message, as before on ll-6-01, comes from just an American Mom (son is 22 and daughter is l9) who cares deeply, weeping often, praying continuously. [Psalms 64: 1-2] Continue in courage and don't forget to pack on a little faith. Love from the USA, Mama C..

Hello Again,

I wrote to you guys about a week ago and just wanted to take a minute to let you know how much we as Ace & TJ listeners appreciate you writing and letting us be a part of your lives. I look forward to hearing your letters. My niece was just sent to Illinois to bootcamp for the Navy, her step-father, my brother, served 21 years in the Navy and my Dad was in WWII so the military isn't a stranger to our family. It is for that reason that I do appreciate what you are doing for your country and yes, for my family who has served and are begining to serve their country. The scrafice that you face everyday show the selfless people that you are.
God bless each and everyone of you and know that you are always on our minds and in our hearts. I know that you are busy but feel free to e-mail anytime and that goes for the rest of your people. GOD BLESS AMERICA...AND ALL OF YOU!!

THANK YOU -- TREMONA MORRISON, 06:52:53 11/08/01 Thu (cps03.bls.com/139.76.65.132)

I AM AN ARMY VETERAN--THAT'S THE TITLE WE GET WHEN WE ARE NOT DEFENDING PHYSICALLY ANYMORE. MY HUSBAND AND I DISCUSSED ALL THE EVENTS THAT ARE GOING ON AND WE AGREED THAT IF WE DIDN'T HAVE CHILDREN WE WOULD HAVE RE-ENLISTED TO JOIN THE FIGHT. I APPLAUD YOU AND YOUR TEAM. THE ENTIRE MILITIA GETS MY HOORAHS BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE. WE HAVE UNCOVERED OUR OLD UNIFORMS AND TRIED THEM ON JUST FOR OLD TIMES SAKE, WE'VE DONNED THE WEIGHT SO THE BDU'S DON'T QUITE FIT THE SAME WAY. WE EXPRESSED OUR THOUGHTS ABOUT RE-ENLISTING IF WE DID NOT HAVE CHILDREN TO OUR PARENTS AND THEY THOUGHT WE WERE OUT OF OUR MINDS. NO ONE CAN POSSIBLY KNOW THE FEELING IT IS TO BE AWAY WITH YOUR "FAMILY" AND STILL MISS YOUR FAMILY. WHEN YOU'RE IN THE MILITARY, YOUR FRIENDS BECOME CLOSER THAN FAMILY AND OCCASIONALLY YOUR FAMILY BECOMES DISTANT FRIENDS. THE MILITARY NO MATTER WHAT THE BRANCH, IS THE BLOOD IN YOUR VEINS, WE KNOW THERE IS A BIGGER OBLIGATION NOW, AND OUR RESPONSIBILITY LIES MORE THAN JUST IN PROTECTING THE COUNTRY, BUT OUR BUDDIES & FAMILIES AS WELL AND STILL BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN TACT AND DISCIPLINE.

I COMMEND YOU, YOUR UNIT, OUR PRESIDENT AND YOUR FAMILY THAT IS STATESIDE FOR STANDING BEFORE US ALL.

There is so much i want to say to you to tell all the marines.......I want to say that all of ya'll are in my prayers and thoughts and that you deserve what ever your heard desires. I do not think the military or vetern's for that matter get enough respect :) God keep you safe and your family as well. Whoever sent your letter girl home for wearing such a kool t-shirt is a idiot and ought to feel ashamed. My father is a Vietam Vet, who just happened to be a Marine snipper, and he says Good Luck!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!!! I am so proud to be an American right now. Ace & Tj were talking yesterday about the true hero coming back into the limelight because of Sept. 11th, but I say they never went out. My father was a Marine, both of my brohters-in-law were Marines and sveral cousins are in some form of service. I am very proud of my family and my country. It is people like you that make me so proud. People often take this wonderful county for granted but young men like yourself enlisting in the service to fight for this great county, are the true heros. I hope that my son joins when he is older, I do not want him to expect someone else to fight for his freedom and not give something back. Often times I thought of enlisting, but I do not think I could leave my children (being a single mother, I am not sure that would be wise, but still to this day I think about it). I believe I heard Ace & Tj say that you have a daughter. I don't know how old she is but when she is old enough, she will be very proud of you. So on the days that you get discouraged, remember that one day your daughter will tell you how proud she is of you and there is nothing greater than the pride your children have in the job you are doing. Remember....we all love you here and pray for you nightly....Thanks again for the great job you and your guys are doing......OOH-RAH!!!!!!!!
Lisa

I don't have an eloquent letter to give you or words of wisdom to help you through all of this like many others have shared. But, what I can give you all is my sincere thanks & appreciation and just know that you will all remain in my continued thoughts and prayers.
Please continue to take care of yourself and all of your "brothers" and "sisters" that are fighting with you.

Taken for granted -- Nina, 11:33:34 11/07/01 Wed (NoHost/205.218.113.90)

Hello to all,

I am married to a retired Marine. I have always gotten goose-bumps when "The Star Spangled Banner" is sung. I have always respected all branches of the military for what they are there to do. Up until September 11th I was an average American living in my own self-centered world and taking our wonderful country for granted. That day all was changed. Life as we all knew it, was no more. That day I fully realized what my husband's, and all the other Marines, purpose was for. I now have the urge to cry when I hear our national anthem. Because I realize that we are honoring all of our soldiers, past and present, and thanking them for their sacrifices. I realize that we are all privileged to live in this great country and it is because of men and women like you that this is possible. My husband was on the USS Ranger during Desert Storm. From tales he has told, life on the boat is no picnic. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I pray that all of you return to us safely and live a full and wonderful life afterwards. For those who will not return, I pray that every life lost will save no less than 50,000 others. Thank you for being Marines. God bless all of you.

God Bless The USA - Happy B-day to the USMC -- Dan S., 08:55:59 11/07/01 Wed (NoHost/63.115.132.3)

SSGT Lucy and all your brave squad members:

I cannot begin to express my thanks to you all for your brave actions defending our great country and fighting against the cowardly terrorists that seek to do the free world harm. Y'all have a big USMC birthday coming up this
weekend and I wanted to share with you that my daughter's
high school band director is an ex-marine and he was a member of the Marine Corp marching band for several years. He has played at Arlington and all over the world in honor of great men such as yourselves. He is now a high school band director, but he also states, "once a marine, always a marine". To that, I say "HOO-RA" and happy birthday to the USMC!! He played a very emotional rendition of "Taps" at the high school football game the week after Sept. 11. Anyway, I hope this email finds you all safe and healthy and once again, I'd like to say thank you so much for all of the brave things you do to keep our country safe and free!! I'm in the software consulting business and I have to travel by airplane quite often and I just wanted to let you know that from what I've seen on all of the domestic flights I've been on in the last few weeks, you all have helped to inspire a nation and bring us closer together again. I think 90% of the people on the flights I've been on have all agreed that if a situation were to come up where someone was trying to hijack the plane, we would all band together to stop them!! Absolutely no one will threaten our way of life and our freedom!!! GOD BLESS THE USA!!!! Here's to the day you all return home safely!!
Thank you again for all you do!!!

Thank you -- Julie, 08:48:47 11/07/01 Wed (macintosh-cc-gw.clickcom.com/216.189.18.6)

As the wife of a police officer I deal with the everyday worry for the safety of my husband and his fellow officers as they do what they are trained to do. It still amazes me after 3 years that he wants to do this, not for the rush it might give him, or the power that people talk about police officers haveing, but because he truly wants to do something to help and protect those who can not do it themselves. I thank God everyday when he comes home each night and I pray for those who are going out. In doing this I realized that you guys and your family's do not have this luxury. It makes me take a moment and think about how truely amazing you really are. I know that you get lots of e-mails thanking you for what you do but sometimes I don't think that those people truly understand the sacrifices that each of you and your families make. I realize that my husband is not gone for months at the time, but I still relate to the fear and the pride that your families feel when they see you in your uniform doing the Job that many do not want the responsibility of. It is hard having the role of hero and I just want you to know that I think all of you have more than me the requirements of the title. I wish you all the very best. May the Lord bless and keep all of you.

Julie

Happy Birthday -- Johanna, 20:17:10 11/06/01 Tue (spider-wn053.proxy.aol.com/205.188.197.173)

Thank you SSGT. Lucy, for being one of the few and the proud. I was brought up in a military household, I wasn't a Marine Corp. "brat" but my Dad was a Marine, and like they say "once a marine, always a marine." I also dated and ex-marine for two years, so the Marine Corps. lifestyle is one that I am familiar with. I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday on the 10th. Not many people celebrate the Marine Corps. birthday, but I do. As a Marine, I know you celebrate that day just as you would you're own birthday. So cheers to you and Happy Birthday Marine Corps!!! SEMPER FI! I also want you to know that I am so proud of all you guys serving your country as my father and grandfathers all did. There is something that becomes ingrained in you're blood when you grow up with such wonderful role models/heros to look up to. My flag flies everyday, as it always has, and it is a tribute and a thank you for the wonderful job you and you're men do, and as all marines do. Good luck in the days ahead of you - I hope that I am the first to wish you a Happy Birthday. I will tip my glass to you on Saturday! It's sad to say that it took something like this to bring us closer together, it is my sincere prayer that we will start accepting ours neighbors for who they are and not the color of their skin. I hope that one day we can all get along! Well enough of that...You guys keep your head up, keep the faith..God bless us all!!!!

Hello SSGT Lucy -- Diana Poteet, 17:48:22 11/06/01 Tue (NoHost/205.245.103.162)

I just wanted you to know that we (everyone in this wonderful nation) greatly appreciate everything you do to protect us and our families. I have a 2 year old daughter and a 7 year old son and am so glad that we have men like you to protect us and defend our nation. I have tried to the best of my ability to explain to my son what is going on and he told me that when he grows up he wants to go into the military, I told him I thought that was a wonderful idea. I have talked with him about you and your situation with your daughter and he says that he is sorry for your daughter not being able to see her daddy, he has been admiring you and your crew for their ability to go off and fight for us. You can never know how much we love you and everything you do for us.

Stay safe come home soon, and remember that you are prayed for each and everyday, not just you but for all of your family members as well.

Take care

Trying to say thank you -- Candie, 16:58:06 11/06/01 Tue (NoHost/165.166.175.123)

To all of you,
I just wanted to take a moment and say that I have the utmost respect for you and the people in the military. It is because of you that I can get up everyday adn say I live ion a free country. I can in no way express my graditude or my thanks for someone who defends my freedom and any cost.
My father was in active duty for twenty years and currently teach reserve classes all over the country. I know the it is like to be without my fatehr just as some of your kids, but I knew that what my father was doing was for teh bettetment of the country and for his family.
My husband also was in the Navy for 4yrs. and he tells me stories of his time and for one to vountallrly do this for a living is the best honor one cilvilan can recive.
I hope that you guys relaize what a hero you are to America. I pray for each and every one of you every day and night. The Lord will always be with you. You guys are the reason that I can go to church and not worry about my religon. I am free to worship the God who gave us life and the land and he will more than ver stand behinde the men and women of the military who deffend this.
I am honestly brought to tears when I think of all you do for the country and how littel respect you recive. From the pay to how some Americans are so ignorant to the fact that what we have in America is presious and you will conutine to make it free to all who come.
This is no way near how I fell about you guys but words could never express the graditude and thanks. After all If it was not for you where would I be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Feel free to E-Mail me.
In my prayers always,
Candie

To Staff Sgt. Lucy and all of America's sons and daughters:
You were heroes the day you were recruited whether you ever saw a battlefield or not! Now, my brave ones, you have been called to battle. This foe cannot win with the Best of America to defend us. If indeed this is a holy war, then you must know that throughout time God's army always wins. You will prevail and you will come home to enjoy the freedom you are fighting for. The ever present "rainbows" of red, white and blue causes me to believe that. Whatever your military armor , don't forget to pack a little faith. Never forget you have a mutual aid of auxilliary christian soldiers here on the homefront. [Joshua 1-9]
Just an American Mom,

"You are not alone" -- Rae, 20:10:53 11/05/01 Mon (spider-wm073.proxy.aol.com/205.188.199.183)

Ok, Ace & T.J. have got to come up with a better code name for men than "Lucy". No Marine should ever be called "Lucy" for any reason. (Just a little humor to make you smile~)
I served in the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm, proudly, alongside the men and women of the Marine Corps. I know the life ya'll lead on a daily basis. I know the mind games you go through to be Marines. But I also know that I have NEVER met a prouder group of individuals than the United States Marines. The Marine Corps is so different from the other branches. Unless you have served as a Marine, or served closely beside one, no one can begin to understand what a Marine goes through. The long days; the short nights; the mega mile humps; the MRE's (YUK); the duty that you stand hour upon hour and week upon week; the endless phone watches; the endless drills to prepare for what you are doing now; and the paycheck that can't begin to reflect the sacrifice each of you make to protect those of us stateside. I know what you have been through to get where you are, and because I know, when I say I am proud of you all, that pride I feel comes from a place in my heart that was created by serving with my fellow Marines. You have but to see the American Flag flying from the Pilot House, or from the stern, to get MOTO. Let your weakness be your strength. And never doubt that you are thought of and prayed for every second of the day. You and everyone else serving and sacrificing for our freedom in the United State Military. Feel free to email me, for any reason, if you or anyone in your unit would like. We may not be with you physically, but our hearts are with you continually. You are all heroes. You are all heroes.
"Semper Fidelis"
God Bless,
Rae

Yokosuka is Home -- Matt, 19:16:45 11/05/01 Mon (clt80-235.carolina.rr.com/24.93.80.235)

I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate your letters and getting a perspective other than that of the paranoid journalists and reporters that are over there with you. Your letters are an extra blessing to me because my parents are stationed in Yokosuka, Japan which you obviously know is the home of the Kitty Hawk. They've been in Japan for 10 years now and hearing your letters read on the air is like getting a little taste of home. I lived there for 4 years. You're doing a great thing; Charlotte and the rest of America is behind you. Hanging my flag every morning has been like getting the paper. It was just routine. After Sept. 11th it took on a new meaning. After hearing your emails read on the air, I realize every morning that I'm hanging that flag for you and every other military person over there. Thank you for protecting us and our freedom. Generations to come will thank you.

Dear Staff Sgt. Lucy,
I have been listening to your letters on the radio. The comment that you made that we can sleep better because you are all out there really touched me. I sometimes feel guilty that this tragedy has not personally affected me. My life for the most part has gone on just as normal. Yet others have been greatly changed. I am greatly thankful that all of you are there for us. I feel very humbled that all your families have made that sacrifice and must be worried sick about you. I want you to know that we all support you and that our prayers are with you. Please stay safe and God bless. Sincerely, Jessica Gray.

Safe and Secure! -- Kathy, Keenan and Kayman, 18:09:47 11/05/01 Mon (spider-mtc-te072.proxy.aol.com/64.12.103.182)

I am a single mother of two beautiful little boys. I would first like to say I can not imagine the worry that comes with having a child in the military. However, I know along with that comes the ultimate pride knowing that you all have the greatest honor and that is the opportunity to defend millions of people and keep us safe and secure.

As I go through my day, I think little of what goes on in your world until I am at home once again. I sit down to the computer and catch the daily news and everything that is going on. Then, reality sets in and for a few minutes I simply wonder what may happen tomorrow.

I realize now that special people in this world are meant to do truly special things. You all are those special people. If everyone took as much pride in what they do as do you all, then this world would be one hell of a place to live.

Thank you for what you do. May God bless you all and see you on a safe return to your families and friends.

p.s. I am truly interested in becoming an e-mail pal for someone, if the opportunity arises.

Hi to everyone overseas defending our wonderful country! I just want you and your men to know that I pray for you guys and gals in the military every day! It is truely admirable and honorable that you would risk your own life to protect the freedoms of others. I am 22 years old and I have family who fought in WWII and the Korean War, I also have many friends who are currently serving as either Marines, Navy or Air Force. I'm sure you guys are scared and may get discouraged, but always remember...GOD is watching out for YOU! God has not given you a spirit of fear, but one of courage and determination~(That's a Bible verse I read but I can't remember the exact verse :)!) Well I don't want to make this too long, I know you guys are busy serving your country and protecting the free world against terrorism! So go out there and show the Taliban that this will NOT defeat us, it will only make us stronger! We know what you're made of, you can do it! Oorah! Love, from Asheville, NC!

Thinking of you all daily -- Meeshie, 15:25:54 11/05/01 Mon (NoHost/162.113.122.112)

Hi Guys!! Just wanted to let you know that I listen to Ace & TJ every morning on my way to work, and the one thing that I listen for most these days is a new letter from Staff Sgt. Lucy, just to find out how all of you are doing. I know how hard it must be to be so far away from family, friends, and loved ones, but rest assured that there are many people right here in North Carolina who have you in their thoughts & prayers daily, myself included. It takes a special kind of person to willingly put their life on the line for their country & for people you've never met, so if no one else tells you today what awesome people you are, let me be the first.

I'd also like to say that I am a single mother, trying to raise my 8 yr old daughter to understand what is happening in our world today, and to also be proud for the freedom that we all sometimes take for granted. I hope that as she grows up, she is someone that everyone can always be proud to know.....someone like those of you aboard the USS Kittyhawk.

I'm sure that there might be a lot of down time for you there in between missions, so if anyone would like to write back & forth, I'd love to hear from you!! Just so you can get a mental picture of what I look like, I am 34, 5'7, long light brown hair, green eyes, and 120 pounds. Don't want this to sound like some singles personal ad, just know when you're talking thru the mail, it's nice to have SOME idea of what the other person looks like.

I hope all of you are home soon, safe & sound. Until then, may God bless and protect you.

Michelle ("Meeshie")

I cannot begin to express fully how grateful I am for you and all of the Marines, but I will try. I am 16, a junior in HS, and I think about all of the men and women who are fighting for our country every day. I admire your courage and commitment. It takes a truly noble man to do what you do. So THANK YOU! I would also like to add that the Marine Birthday is this weekend (Nov 10), and I would like to wish you all a Happy Birthday! We are having a party in my history class to celebrate the Marines (since my teacher is an ex-Marine, or as he says, he's still a Marine... once a Marine, always a Marine!), and I will eat a piece of cake for you! I'll be thinking about you!

YOUR DAUGHTER MAY NOT UNDERSTAND AT FOUR YEARS OLD WHAT HER DAD AND UNCLE ARE DOING SO FAR FROM HOME. THE DAY WILL COME WHEN SHE WILL UNDERSTAND AND WILL BE VERY PROUD OF YOU BOTH. I'M SURE SHE HAS A STRONG SUPPORT GROUP OF ADULTS WHO WILL BE WITH HER DURING YOUR ABSENCE. I'M SORRY SHE MET WITH SUCH NARROW MINDED VIEWS WHEN SHE WORE HER SHIRT TO SCHOOL.

I WAS A MILITARY WIFE AND ENJOYED EACH NEW EXPERIENCE AND THE MILITARY LIFESTYLE. WE LEFT FAMILIES BEHIND BUT SOON FOUND OURSELVES WITH AN EXTENDED FAMILY. ALTHOUGH I AM NO LONGER MARRIED, I AM VERY PROUD OF MY EX-HUSBAND AND THE WORK HE DOES. I'M RAISING MY CHILDREN IN HIS SHADOW. THEY KNOW THE SACRIFICES THEIR DAD HAS MADE AND ALTHOUGH THEY MISS HIM, THEY ALSO KNOW HE'S DOING WHAT HE LOVES AND THEY ARE VERY PROUD OF HIM.

WE WILL KEEP ALL OF YOU IN OUR PRAYERS AND PRAY THAT YOU WILL ALL BE REUNITED WITH YOUR FAMILIES SAFE AND SOUND. WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING MORE FROM YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Our Prayers are with You! -- Erin, 13:12:01 11/05/01 Mon (infocomm9-pc.uncc.edu/152.15.100.143)

First of all, I just want to thank you and your fellow Marines for what you are doing for our country. My husband is a Marine, stationed at Cherry Point, NC. Thankfully, he will not be called to go overseas, but he does have some friends who are now on a float. We know now hard the Marine life can be, especially being away from those you love. Our prayer is that God will bless you and bring you home safely. Thank you again for loving our country so much! God bless you! Much love, Erin

God is in control!!! -- Natalie, 12:51:39 11/05/01 Mon (Infocomm8-pc.uncc.edu/152.15.100.117)

To someone I honor and respect,
I have truly been touched by your emails. My dad was in the air force and is currently in the Air National Guard. He has been serving our country for about 30 years. I believe that is takes someone who is beyond special to serve in our military. There have been many tough times for our family and many trips we didn't want him to take, but not once have we regreted his service for our country. My dad is one of the most honorable people for many reasons. His faith in God has been the most outstanding thing in his life. He has always said that God helps him through everything. I'm sure you can say the same. I know that your daughter will grow up with such respect and honor for your service to our country. She has a very special father as I do. My father will be going to Japan this Friday to serve along with all the men all over the world. I will keep you, your daughter, your friends, and family, along with my dad in my constant prayers. Thank you so much for your willingness to serve and fight for us! God has a special reward in heaven for those who put their faith in him! As I always tell my dad have fun coming home,
Natalie

Hello from Alabama -- Penny, 12:38:46 11/05/01 Mon (spider-tn034.proxy.aol.com/152.163.207.59)

Hey there Staff Sgt Lucy. I heard Ace & TJ read your letter on the air this morning and I just had to write you. I heard them say that you have a 4 yr old daughter that I know you must miss terribly. I am a single mother of an 11 yr and a 2 yr and I can just imagine how bad it hurts you to be away from her and not knowing when you will see her again. She must be so proud of her Daddy. We are all proud of you and everyone that is away fighting for our freedom. I also heard them say that you have a little brother on the ship with you. It was so sweet when you told him that you loved him. I believe deep inside he knows that you are just trying to protect him and he will appreciate you for it. I just wanted to take the time to let you know that its the men and women like yourself that make us all proud to be American's. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of our military that is away from home fighting this war for us. Thank you for all that you are doing for us and for fighting to make this a better and safer country for our children to grow up in. They are our future. May God Bless you and all of those aboard the USS Kitty. I pray that you all return home safely and that you return home soon. Take care and I look forward to hearing your next letter on the ACe & TJ show.

Thanks seems so inadequate. You and all of the other men and women that are serving our country deserve so much honor and respect that I just had to say THANK YOU ALL!!!!!
I listened as Ace & Tj read your message from the weekend 11-5-01 and I just cried when you told your brother that you loved him. I cannot imagine the conditions that you are living in but I am sure you would much rather be at home with your precious daughter. I know that she is very proud of you. I will continue to keep you and all of the others in my prayers and I hope that you have the Lord in your life.
Thank you again.

Just wanted to say thank you for all that you are doing for us! I am a former Army wife and I do understand what you are going though. Even now since my husband and I are no longer together, I still understand and feel for everyone involved! My ex and I keep in contact though all of this and he keeps me updated on what he can! When the time comes and you think you have found that someone special, she will learn to accept the duties of you severing you country, just as I did 12 years ago. Now at times I miss the duties of a Military Wife! We will be thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers!

I'll be in touch, until then take care of yourself and your brother.

Hello!! -- Erika Moore, 09:02:07 11/05/01 Mon (NoHost/152.43.61.84)

Hey guys! I thought that I would thank you guys for what your doing. Let me give you a quick description of me..., I'm Erika Moore, and I'm from Huntersville Norh Carolina. I'm 19 years old and I'm attending Central Piedmont Community College and transfering for my 4 yr degree in business at UNCC. I could never do what you do, because honestly I'm just too chickened. But I find the military life very interesting.

I don't know how often y'all get the news or whatever, but if any of you are baseball fans, the Diamond backs won the world series sunday. I'm not a baseball fan, but I figured some of you would like to know that info. In college football, NC state beat duke - 55 to 31, and Florida state won against Clemson, 41-27. I don't know any other sport scores.
Well, I guess I could try to email you once a week. I know a bunch of high school buddies who are over there and all. I'm very concerned about them and it would make me feel better to know that I'm emailing someone over there. I would absolutly love to hear from you guyz if possible. You all are in my prayers every night, I promise. God bless,

Erika Moore

proud of my daughter -- Sonia, 08:58:52 11/05/01 Mon (216.215.143.226.nw.nuvox.net/216.215.143.226)

I heard Ace & TJ read aloud an email from you this morning and had to write you. Naturally I was running late this morning trying to get my 6 year old daughter, Lacey, to school and to try to make it to work on time when we heard the words of your email.
My daughter attends school in a church and they say a prayer for everyone who is away from home fighting and defending our country.
This morning was a little different, because when she heard the words from your email she asked where you were and why you weren't reading it yourself. I told her that you were in the military and you were one of the many men and women who would help to make sure that we didn't lose more lives in America like we did in NYC and in D.C. on 9/11.
She seemed so focused and attentive to the words coming through the car speakers. I asked if she was ok and she nodded, yes.
Once I pulled up to the door of her school she held her head down, (and being in the hurry I was in) I asked her if she was ok. She didn't answer. So I asked her again and she still didn't answer--- instead she held her hand up to me as if not to disturb her.
Then out of the blue, she told me to write you an email and let you know that her "special prayer" went out to you and your troops this morning. She said she hoped that all of you could be home to feed your dogs soon, get your mail, read bedtime stories to your kids and give your mommies and daddies a big hug.
I thought it was so sweet of her to think of the little things in life that I know I even tend to take for granted that thousands of others don't have the chance to do right now. On my way to work I thought about what she had said and that she took it upon herself to think of the simple things in life and hoping that all of you can return home to your loved ones soon!
Since I am a single mother, I have learned to sacrifice more than once so that my daughter could have the things she needs. That's the way I look at this whole situation--
all of you are sacrificing so much for people like me and my daughter to keep our freedom and our way of living as American citizens.
I am very proud of my daughter for her sincerity and innocence as a child to think of others before herself.
I wish the very best for you and I hope to hear back from you to pass along to my daughter.

P.S. As she got to the door of her school she looked back at me and let out a loud, "hoooo- yah!!"

Sincerely,
Sonia Garcia

Just to wish you luck -- Julianne, 08:53:05 11/05/01 Mon (NoHost/208.61.210.189)

Dear Sgt.Lucy,
First and for most I want to thank you for everything that you and your fellow Marins are doing over there. I know what you are going through; well kind of anyways. I was raised on an Air Force where I was always saying "good bye" to someone that I knew, and I hated it. But I never thought I would have to send one of my friends off to war. Greg went into the Marins when we got out of High School, and no matter where he has gone we have always been close. I look at him and I know that he has been trained to do the job he has to do, but to me he has always been my "little brother" and he always will be. I can't help but think about him when Ace and T.J. read your letters over the air.
Today I found out that you have a little boy who is four years old, and I know that he is proud of his Daddy because I was always proud of my dad and the job that he did. But at the same time I know how hard it is to be away from you child. Just always remember when your day seems like it can't get any worse think about your little boy who is waiting on you to get home, and if that don't bring a smile to your face then think about things that he has done or will do one day. I know it is not much, but every time I think about my little girl I can't help but laugh out loud.
Once again thank you for everything you are doing and have done, tell your fellow Marines that we are all proud of the job they are doing.
Thank you'
Julianne

I heard your most recent letter on the way to take my kids to school and was a little puzzled. I think you have misunderstood. Ace and Tj are not making fun of what happened on Sept. 11. The song is making fun of the Taliban and what they are doing to there own people.(brainwashing, etc..) You took it to heart and it is not presented that way. I am not sure if you have heard the song. But you need to hear it. We all support you and the efforts of everyone in the military. please don't misunderstand .My husband was in the Army and both his Dad and step father are retired Navy. I understand so don't be lead a stray by some one elses opinion.

hey guys, Well I am not sure what to write, but I wanted to tell you how much we appreciate what you guys as well as many other service men and woman are doing. I work as a counselor at the local mental health and I can see how much this thing effects people trying to go about daily business with this fear of what may happen next. At times I find it difficult to comfort patients when I have this same feeling. It helps to know we have people like you willing to fight for our freedom and the future for America. It makes me proud to know you are doing so much already and have taken the time to share with us. Thank you again, and I am praying for all of you men and women. Just know that you have the support of many Americans. Keep up the great work.

Staff Sgt.Lucy,
As the wife of a former Marine my prayers go out to you and to your family. I married my husband 3 weeks after he got out of the Marines. I can not say that I know what you and your family our going through right now. While we were dating he never had to be deployed anywhere. We now have a 17 month old daughter and another on the way. It took me awhile to understand why he has such deep feelings for wanting to go back and fight right beside you. I am so greatful that there are people like you and my husband who will stand up and fight for our rights as well as our childrens future. May GOD bless you and your fellow brothers. and as my husband said to say "Semper Fi".
You are in my prayers,
Lori C. Shields

PS- Please feel free to shoot me an E-mail. My husband would love to talk to you.

About Time -- No name, 07:37:08 11/05/01 Mon (WCS2.NORFOLK.NIPR.MIL/198.26.132.102)

SSgt. Lucy,

Good luck to you and your Marines! It's sad that it's taken this tragedy for America to stop for a moment and realize that we do this job day in and day out, 365 days a year, never seeking praise from the American public that you and I swore to protect so long ago. I challenge the public at large to realize that operations such as these go on all the time, not just in times of National Emergency. Keep up the good work, as all Marines do. Keep your head down and remember sight alignment and sight picture, steady manipulation of the trigger to the rear, and all that other good trash.

Semper Fidelis!
Your Brother in Arms

I just wanted to say thanks for all that you guys are doing for our country. As a military brat myself (my dad retired when I was 18 after serving 20 yrs in the Air Force and I'm now 21), I can relate to what the children are going through while their moms/dads are overseas. Why would they send a four year old child home for wearing a shirt that has a flag on it, etc? That just doesn't make sense, just like the case where the office workers had to take down their little flags on their desks. I really enjoy listening to the emails that you write to Ace & TJ, especially since all my friends are in the military (Navy and Marines). And you are correct, it takes a special person to date somebody in the military, especially the Navy and Marines since they're gone for long periods at a time without their loved ones knowing where they're going. If you can and if you wish, please email me back...I'm here if you want to let some frustration out. Oh, tell the guy that said "trick or treat" at the building that you blew up this past week, thanks for the laugh.....the email that you just wrote was really intense. Please be careful and hope you come home safe and sound.

THANK YOU ALL!! -- Jessica, 18:05:45 11/04/01 Sun (dial-76.r9.scches.infoave.net/207.144.168.76)

I would like to start off by saying thank you for defending America's freedom. I know thats not enough, and that you get it in every message sent to you, but from deep down in my heart, I really wish I could do more. I am 14 years old, so what you all are doing for not only me, but all the other Americans really means alot to me. I understand what is going on and I feel safe to know that such people as you are helping to defend what America is all about. I just want you to know that I am praying for you all and I want to ask Staff Sgt. Lucy some questions if it is o.k.
I was just wondering if you recieve e-mails from your daughter. I know she's young, but she may have help from her mom. And, also I was wondering if it was hard when you first began the marine corps. I am in JROTC in my high school, and Sgt. Henry(my instructor)helps the students in the program to understand what is happening better. He also teaches us what the different organizations--(I guess) do.(ex. army, navy, marines, etc.) Thank You all for your time and again THANK YOU for all that your doing.

One NATION Under GOD -- Billy and Vanessa Talley, 17:17:34 11/04/01 Sun (spider-mtc-th074.proxy.aol.com/64.12.102.54)

Staff Sergeant Lucy,
thank you so very much for everything ALL of YOU MEN and WOMEN are doing there and every where else.I have always been a very proud AMERICAN, and am even more so now. And everyone takes it for granted that we do live in America and that we are free to live and do as we please. WE should be very grateful that they are people like all of you who are ready and willing to fight for us, people you don't even know. It is disturbing to know that your daughter was sent home from school for displaying what should be her GOD given right of affection for her father!!!!!! Please keep your head high as well as all of the other men and women who are there with you. Everyone wants ALL of you to return home safely to your families. The american flag seems to have so much more meaning now, just hope in the future it continues to!!! WE should all be proud of AMERICA AS ARE ALL OF YOU GREAT HEROS!!! MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND KEEP YOU SAFE FROM HARM.

Dear Staff Sgt. Lucy,
I am a 41 year old mother of 2 and I am so proud of you and the guys that are with you on the ship ready to defend this country. I hope and pray that each of you are safe and will soon be able to come home to your families. I just know that because of you; there are many, many families safe tonight. A MOTHER SAYS "THANK YOU" -- TRACEY, 06:36:56 11/04/01 Sun (NoHost/207.144.246.140)

This message goes out to SSGT. Lucy and all the other brave men and women aboard the USS.KittyHawk. I am a mother of two and the wife of a former active duty service man. My husband served active duty for 10 years, and is still in the National Guard Reserves. He too served in Desert Storm, Somalia, and Haiti. As a wife and mother who knows the emotional pain you feel when a love one goes off to war, a simple "THANK YOU" just isn't enough. You guys are what every child should aspire to be-(The Defenders of Freedom) Without the dedication and passion of guys like you, I shudder to think of what this nation would become. My husband is also on alert and may be called away. But, I have to put my own emotions aside and think of all the innocent lives that were lost, and pray that justice will be done. What you guys are doing today will insure that my children,as well as yours, can grow up in the "GREATEST NATION" in the world without fear. May GOD Bless each of you and bring you home safely. I will be praying for each of you. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!

Hello to you all -- Tammi, 14:09:59 11/03/01 Sat (user-2ivfatr.dialup.mindspring.com/165.247.171.187)

Hello to all you brave soldiers. I just wanted to thank you all for taking so much pride in your work, and knowing that this fight is not for nothing, it is for everything. I never thought that I would live to see the destruction of what happened Sept 11th, in our great nation. I just thank God we have such dedicated people as you all are. I cry more than ever and it has all changed my life, as it has everyones, but being only in my late twenties and eager to start a family, it is scaring me. Do I truly want t obring a child into all that is going on right now? To have to worry more than any other parent before Spt 11TH had to?? It is a painful decision that I have not come to a conclusion on. I am not a very strong person, though some would tell you otherwise. When I get up in the morning, I am not the same person I used to be, I want to just roll over and go back to sleep. Cannot help to think what is going to happen today.
I moved away from my family in Toledo, Ohio almost five years ago, and miss them now more than ever. It is going to be difficult to make road trips to go and visit now, because the E-savers ARE NOT first on my mind for a little weekend getaway anymore. I do hope your families are keeping in touch often to let you know how much they love and care about you all, I can only imagine the lonliness you all are feeling right now. But after a heck of a lot of work, and many challenges I expect to see you all safe and sound. Try to keep up the morale of the soldiers, because you are sure helping ours.
Thank you

Thank You -- Jodi, 13:08:47 11/03/01 Sat (spider-mtc-te042.proxy.aol.com/64.12.103.167)

I just wanted to say thank you for all that you and all the other enlisted men and women are doing. If it were not for people like you, our nation would not be what it is today. I also wanted to say that I have a 5 year old daughter and that I can not imagine her being sent home from school for wearing a shirt like your daughter did. The people at her school need to re-evaluate their sense of patriotism. It still amazes me that in a time of war, like we are in now, that people in our nation are still ashamed or don't care enough to let their flags fly and show that they support our nation. God bless you and may God speed your return to the states. We are all thinking of you.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL -- Laura Thomas, 09:49:28 11/03/01 Sat (NoHost/152.34.148.191)

You are in our prayers and hearts daily. I can't even begin to imagine what you are feeling inside with each passing day. Never knowing what to expect. We thank you for fighting for all of us. It is because of men like you that we have our freedom today. AS far as why some people aren't wearing flags, I cannot understand that myself. I personally don't care who I offend by wearing one. If you are living in America then you should support America. If you can't, then go back to where ever you came from. I wear a flag pin daily and a red, white & blue bracelet that I braded from cross stitch thread. I made one for everyone that I know. They were placed on our wrist the day after the bombing and are still there. You hang in there. God is in control.

I don't know you or any service personnal currently. My dad and uncle did service in Vietman but I was too young to remember. I have a 6 month baby boy and I don't know what I would do if I had to leave him for any period of time so I understand you missing your little girl and all the parents on the USS Kitty Hawk missing their children as well. SSgt Lucy,

I wanted to take the time to write to you and your squad and let each of you know how much all of your effort, courage, patriotism, and sacrifice is appreciated. I am 22 years old and tried to join the Corps last summer, only to find out that my asthma and colorblindness prohibit me from serving in the finest fighting unit in the world. The recruiter told me I could have a different MOS -- I wanted Force Recon -- but I opted to return to college and leave the fighting to those of you who God saw fit to create in perfect health. Nevertheless, I as well as millions of Americans here in the homeland are behind you, and we believe that your mission will be completed successfully and with great honor. Hold fast to your principles, your faith, and your training -- they will see you through. As for the rest of it, our prayers will sustain you. Take care of yourselves, Staff Sgt., and good hunting.

I would just like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I really appreciate the fact that there are guys like you who love our country enough that they are willing to lay down their lives for something we all believe in. It really angers me to turn on the T.V. or to pick up a newspaper and see some idiot demonstrating in the streets or on some courthouse lawn because they don't believe in fighting for our freedom. I guess they don't realize that somtimes you have to fight for what you believe in. They don't realize that the same freedom we are fighting for is the same freedom that allows them to stage their protests. It is the same freedom that allows us to make our own decisions in our lives everyday, and not have someone make them for us. Again I want to say thank you and may God Bless each and every one of you who stand up to protect the very freedom that we sometimes take for granted.

God Bless,

My brother is also a Marine, stationed at Camp Lejune, North Carolina. He has been in the corps for about three years and also plans to reinlist. You may have even been his drill instructor at Paris Island. He is an Amtrack mechanic and has not been deployed anywhere. I thank God for that; he however is upset. He is one of those that likes the pure adrenaline rush of not knowing what the next move will be. The job you guys are doing is wonderful and I hope God will keep you safe. Hey if you know any of "my" Marine guys; Corn,Trainer,Simion,Justin, etc. kiss them for me and make it wet and sloppy! HA! HA! Don't get to lonely out there and stay sexy and safe.

I just wanted to say "Thank You" for everything you and your fellow Marines are doing for us. The time that you spend away from your family and friends has to be very difficult. I hope that talking to some of us will be enough to help you through these tough times. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you. God Bless.

Courage -- Sunshine, 07:53:43 11/02/01 Fri (spxyclt1.bankofamerica.com/171.161.224.10)

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear."
-Ambrose Redmoon

I hope that each and every one you know how truly respected you are for the life you have chosen to live, for yourself and this country. I am so proud of all of you and saying thank you does not approach the depth of feeling that I have as an American for your hard work, the training you have endured and the dedication you have for this country.

I hope you are all doing well considering the circumstances. If any of you would like a 'cyber ear' please feel free to 'bend' mine if you are able.

Thanks for all you do!! -- The Dettrey Family, 07:37:27 11/02/01 Fri (url1.cms.k12.nc.us/168.190.200.8)

Staff Sgt. Lucy and crew,
I cannot tell you how much your letters touch me. I am so grateful that you take the time out of your very busy day to email Ace and TJ when you could be getting much needed rest. Your letters put me at ease. I don't feel so scared after reading your email. I know that you and your crew and the many other men and women of the armed forces are protecting us day and night. I have a 16 month old son. I worry about him all the time. When I drop him off to go to work, will it be the last time I see him? Will it be the last time I will kiss his cheek? I can only hope that God will guide you and all the men and women in the military to protect us and keep you safe. God bless you all and thank you!!

I just wanted to say "Thank you" on behalf of myself and my little boy. It IS because of all of you that we can sleep peacefully. I went out for breakfast this morning and was seated next to a man from our National guard armory in fatigues. I started crying and thanked him for being in the military @ a time like this. I have sobbed each morning that Ace and TJ have read one of your messages. I just want to thank you. My son is 3 years old and in light of the recent events I am terrified about the world that he is growing up in. Thank you, thank you, thank you for working to keep that world safe.

God Bless you and your families!

America stands strong behind you!!!!!!!!! -- Torri Vanderburg, 06:30:06 11/02/01 Fri (NoHost/216.116.186.186)

Hello SSgt Lucy and all the brave men on the Kitty Hawk,

I just had to let you know how very much we appreciate what you are doing to defend our country. Please know how special each of you are and that you are in our thoughts and prayers each day. We are so proud of you guys!!! Having such special people in our military makes me even more proud to be an American. I proudly stand beside you to defend her! Remember that we have a fight here in the states unlike any we have ever had before. We promise to do our part here so you will have a strong, secure home to return to. We know your sacrifice but I'm sure you all agree that this great land we call home is worth any sacrifice. You would not be there if you didn't. I have a brother-in-law in law enforcement and relatives & friends in our fire departments. These guys are working to ensure that all your efforts are not in vain. I guess you could really say that we are all working together!! God takes tragedy and pulls from it such great things. I've been seeing this every day since September 11. I have a brother who was a Marine, and I'll never forget his graduation at Parris Island. I still get chills when I think of all those brave soldiers looking so incredible in their dress blues. You could see the strength and determination in their eyes. I saw the strength and determination of America. America Rocks!!!!!!
We'll I'll close because I am beginning to ramble, but I have to send this poem I just received.
God Bless!

patriotic women -- Christina, 06:28:54 11/02/01 Fri (64-204-138-140.client.dsl.net/64.204.138.140)

Dear Staff Sergeant Lucy (and guys!),
I’m doing a little “secret operation” here myself… I’m typing this at work! J
Anyway, I was listening to Ace & TJ this am and heard your letter talking about the ladies. I totally understand what you’re saying about needing a woman that can deal with the military life. I think that in a time like this having someone at home (or not having someone- either way) can be something really hard for you guys to deal with that few people that aren’t in a miltary family think about. I’ve been close to some military families and seen how tough the wives and significant others have to be, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for them. Back in the WWII days women just stood up straight and realized that part of their duty for the country was to stick with their men. What is sad though, is that it seems that there are less and less women who have the guts to do that. I don’t know why the attitude has changed, but I wanted to tell you guys that don’t already have one of these loyal significant others that there’s hope! There are still some of us single ladies out there whose attitude hasn’t changed, and understand how important your being gone is - even though it’s hard.
And on that note, I was “home” (where my family is) in SC recently and was outside by a little lake on a clear night. I looked up and saw the stars sprinkled in the sky and heard the sounds of nothing but nature, and I thought this is what we’re fighting for. Of course there are a million more things about our country that you are protecting, but it just reminded me of how thankful I am to all of you guys, for doing what you’re doing.
I can’t thank you enough. Hang in there, we’re thinking about you and praying for you!
Take care – Christina Thomas

Thank You -- Becky Brasington, 06:05:25 11/02/01 Fri (d137.cherco.net/209.198.37.137)

Dear SSgt. Lucy & Crew,
I wanted to take the time to tell y'all how honored & proud I am that y'all are protecting the USA & what this country stands for. As a 9-1-1 Dispatcher & Volunteer Firefighter, I know what it is like to risk your life for someone you don't know and may never see again. The funny thing is that you don't think of it like that-and for y'all I'm sure y'all cant imagine not being a Marine, just as I can't imagine not being a Firefighter. No matter what anyone says- you are all HEROES-and to all those who are against the U.S.'s retaliation--if you dont like it-leave the country -because if you had family or friends involved then you would want to be the one out there KATN-kickin' ass and takin' names to protect them. I am proud to be an Amercian citizen-thanks you for protecting my freedom and my way of life. God Bless all of you & your families. Return home safe, sound, and victorious. If you are able to write back please do, but if not i am sure all of us at home understand that life for y'all is unexpected and busy right now. Godspeed...Love from a proud American, Becky

Hey guys, I just wanted to thank all of you for all that you are doing. I am a 33 yr old mother of two. My daughters are 13 and 10 and all the kids in their schools wear flags or anything patriotic anytime they want. They have learned the value of their freedom and now have an added respect for their Papa, who is a retired Marine, and the men fighting for their freedom right now. We pray for all of you and your families. It's so hard to explain to your kids why they can't touch the mail, and why we need an evacuation kit because we live near a nuclear power plant. Children shouldn't have to go through this. I am not very good with words, but please know that I really do thank you for trying to make this country a safe place for our children. Staff Sgt. Lucy, hang in there, any woman would be lucky to have you as a husband.

We just wanted to tell you guys/women that everyone here in Alabama are very proud of you! We are proud of what you stand for and what you are doing. Everyone in our neighborhood has made a stand for America! Every house has some kind of patrotic display showing. We have everything from flags flying, signs in yards, to stickers on mailboxes and cars! One of our neighbors even made an American Flag out of red, white and blue plasitc cups and adhered them to his fence! It is beautiful!! Just remember through your long journey that you are backed by several million Americans and you will always be in our prayers!! Lee Greenwood says it best: I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!

Freedom

Freedom from terror,
is what you're fighting for.
Your country stands behind you,
As you fight this tiring war.

Just know that we all love you,
and pray for you each day.
As you risk your lives for your country,
for it is the price that we must pay.

Others did it before you,
and others will do it again.
We thank GOD for our precious flag,
and for all you brave women and men.

Take with you all our prayers,
take with you all our love.
Just know that GOD is with you,
He's looking down on us from above.

If ever you get lonely,
and feel like giving up the fight.
Just say a prayer to JESUS,
and HE"LL see you through the night.

Just a short note to say "Thank You" for all that you & yours sacrifice everyday to protect me & mine. I could not imagine the things you go through, like missing your families & friends. I have 3 children & never ever would I think I could be without them for even a month. It is a great sacrifice you have made & are still making for the security of our nation, I appreciate you!! You must well up with pride with thoughts of your committments to the US, I know that everytime I see an Officer of any kind whether it be Police, Firefighter, Security or Enlisted ( no matter the rank)I have a new found pride & respect for them. It takes a huge tragedy like 911 to bring us together as a country & thats a shame: but the Positives and strengths that our new bonds brings is what America was founded upon & I hope is what America will remain. Your homeland is proud of you -- Paige in Huntsville, Alabama, 13:25:56 11/01/01 Thu (stl-proxy-02.boeing.com/12.13.248.14)

I pray continually for all of our leaders, that they lead wisely and well, and for you our fighting forces, that you are fighting not only for us but for God as well. We are SO PROUD of you; we love you and we definitely thank each and every one of you from our hearts, and will teach future generations to respect what you are doing and what you have done.

Whether or not you "feel like it", you are doing what you committed to do, for a goal greater than any one individual. Thank you for having the guts and the honor and the courage to do that! Athletes, actors and musicians are nothing more than "icing"; it is the firefighters, the rescue workers, and the fighting forces that are the TRUE HEROES of our nation. You are our best.

Five days ago I married a former Marine (if there is such a thing as a "former" Marine) who had been in Desert Storm and in Somalia. His service to his country is one of the many things that make me so very proud of him.

Thank you and God bless you. I pray that you all will turn to Him for your strength and courage.

Heartfelt Thanks..... -- Sharon, 11:41:44 11/01/01 Thu (allpcs.royal-usa.net/167.82.191.50)

While I look into the eyes of my two year old daughter and see her innocence; as she knows of nothing that's going on now. I am reassured by people like you that she will be able to live and grow up knowing the value of freedom. I want you to know that throughout all of this tragedy...many, many important values will be instilled within our children. The significance of a flag, the national anthem, Independence Day, but most of all human life. If I have learned something throughout all of this... It would be: Never take something for granted, for it can be gone within seconds. So, as the day draws to an end .... I am realizing more and more each day of what I have to be thankful for. I am so thankful that we have guys like you protecting us. Risking your lives day to day for our freedom. Thank you again for all the unseen things you do. You are really our hero's, and for that I am grateful.

Sharon

Do you know? -- LUCY, 11:32:12 11/01/01 Thu (NoHost/65.205.112.126)

Hi, thank you for everything your doing!! My prayers are with you. I may have missed it, but what Marine base are you from? Do you know anyone from Camp Lejune? I have tried to find a way to get in touch with an old love, and have had no luck. I would really like to know how he is doing in this time of despair. He is from Michigan, and his name is Buddy Ling. Last I knew, he was a PFC, but that was in 1995. It may be a long shot, now sure how long someone is enlisted. I just think about him a lot, and need some closure. Any suggestions in how I may find out anything about him?
