I wanted to take the time to write to you and your squad and let each of you know how much all of your effort, courage, patriotism, and sacrifice is appreciated. I am 22 years old and tried to join the Corps last summer, only to find out that my asthma and colorblindness prohibit me from serving in the finest fighting unit in the world. The recruiter told me I could have a different MOS -- I wanted Force Recon -- but I opted to return to college and leave the fighting to those of you who God saw fit to create in perfect health. Nevertheless, I as well as millions of Americans here in the homeland are behind you, and we believe that your mission will be completed successfully and with great honor. Hold fast to your principles, your faith, and your training -- they will see you through. As for the rest of it, our prayers will sustain you. Take care of yourselves, Staff Sgt., and good hunting.
