Veteran's Day 2001...The accounting of your recent mission makes me so painfully yet so much more pridefully aware that some of God's youngest children know the dark side of "sweet liberty". You reminded me so vividly, the irony, when you spoke of looking into the eyes of the camouflaged faces of your squads. Being attired for battle doesn't, after all, camouflage the soul! Dear Brave men and women, my heart is so filled with admiration and appreciation. I wish you could feel what America feels about you! I send a mother's love. P.S. If after this tour, Sgt Lucy, you put on your "civvies" for good and enjoy a life with your daughter, you will still be a hero. It is a win/win situation.Your daugher will love you whatever you choose. Thanks for opening your heart to America via E-mail. It means so much. May God keep you all safe till next time.
