These pages were set up initially to inform students on matters that the University and the Union wanted to bury. I know this must sound crazy but it is true.

QUB Student Union officers received bullets in the post and so did students living in the Holylands area Belfast. This was quickly concealed. One of the comtemporary QUB student Union officers who covered up is now a much photographed Police Officer. Another is still a prime voice for students safety in the Holylands area and still a paid Officer at National Irish level.

This is the sort of "upfront" representation that students receive. Sad but again true it is down to students to become aware of this sort of crap and also down to students with balls to change it.

Students often flood into the Holylands unaware of the high level of crime in the area which includes murder, rape, assaults, Police harrassment, muggings and break ins to mention a few.

The Holylands area is filled with residents who are drug dealers, touts and in general undesirables removed by Paramilitaries elsewhere in the country. The area houses hostels for Paedophiles, Young runaways and brothels.

Many students live there in term time and yes students are noisy and drunk but it is unfair to use students as a smokescreen to hide everything else from good residents many with young children and good students alike.

The student union officers should be first to highlight ALL danger and all should mean all. These pages by pass Union officer cowardice and seeks to inform students.

Thanks for visiting Brian.
