Subject: Holylands students stay Safe & Sound

Safe & Sound

In order to fully enjoy the Queen’s experience you must be aware of how to keep yourself safe. Attacks on Students have been rising and in order to prevent yourself becoming a victim it is important to take note of this advice especially at night.

Taxi Free Phone Service – located in the entrance hall of the
Students’ Union.

Women’s Self Defence and Assertiveness Classes – organised in conjunction with the Queen’s Students’ Union and Physical Education Centre.

Personal Alarms – available free to QUB students from Reception, 2nd Floor, Students’ Union.

Rape and Sexual Assault

Rape is an extreme act of violence, most commonly against women. It can happen at any place or any time.

A rape or sexual assault is traumatic. Sometimes the victim may be too embarrassed or humiliated to talk about their experience – this can be a difficult burden to carry alone.

ACTS OF RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ARE NEVER THE VICTIM’S FAULT

If you have been or if you know anybody who has been a victim of rape or sexual abuse, there are people who you can talk to.
