Well. Hmm...

Fav Char - indeed, Carter takes the cake. He was awesome. It'd be nice if he was around more, but alas, for writing like that, well, I'm willing to wait. Makare is also quite good, as she keeps nicely to her persona and is a high-quality writer. Raven is excellent as well, and I'm not just saying that. Lavik & Kival are also quite notable.
Lost Colony has plenty of excellent RRers... How'd you get so lucky, Badhbh? Lol. So does Shadowlands. Shin'aka is one who's posts I like reading :) I really don't know how my char(s) match up, but still.

My own personal fav char - Well. This is probably one you haven't noted unless you play in Morrigan's Wrath. My own char I quite like is Chiasmus. He's essentially a bloodthirsty, illiterate, cycloptic brute, with a specific dislike for people who are peaceful. Plus, he's dang ugly and needs a dentist - badly. He may be at some obvious disadvantages looks- and vision-wise, but he doesn't care. Now some may give him the pity vote, but he's likely to go and slaughter those folk. He was the kid that I came up with to start some action, but I didn't want your customary movie-star gorgeous hero. He's far from it. And though I RP him simplistically (no words like femina, 'pon, etc.), I think he's one of my better forays into good RP writing. I also like my dragon in Shadowlands... He's unusual, and I'm still working with his history and personality. He had to go through a type change (he's an ex-Fire Drake) he's still kept his bold coloring. Pretty handy char with a lot of quirks.
Still have yet to come up with something to be proud of in Lost Colony... I've got a handful in An'kor I tend to like.

What I like to see in characters -
Diversity. Quirks. Unusuality. Originality. This character has to be different from the mainstream crowd. Gotta stick out, be noticable. In that respect, they must be unusual. Original. I'm *so* sure everyone in real life is perfect. That would make the world such a boring place. Is the RPing world any different?
Disadvantages are good. Disadvantages just to get a pity vote are not good. Thriving despite disadvantages is great.
RPing here plays a huge role. Words are an effective medium in our 'work'. But if your post is just too dang simple... Especially if you misspell it badly. You may have the most original, greatest char in the world, but if your RPing isn't all that great, well... Describing things is excellent. Emotions, location, motions. Staying true to one's character is even better. If the person has been abused and neglected, I don't think they'll be all that sociable to start off with, will they?
Giving the whole character's history and plot away... Just doesn't leave much to do with the char. Letting it leak out, slowly, is fun, I find, both to play and to read. Keeps them interested and interesting.
Quality and quantity of RPing is also nice. You can write a chapter book but if it's just repetitive junk how many people will stick around to read it all? If you use all sorts of obscure words that make people haul out a thesaurus every two words, well, they probably won't bother to read it. Slow posts with an overabundance of blanking out vowels and consonants with (')s... Makes for a very confusing read, most often. Advanced simplicity, as Lenore put it, is very, very nice. Fun to read, easy to understand, and yet... Attractive and descriptive.

Ideal char, as in... Well, whatever you care to take it as -
My ideal char would have to be something unusual, yet something that motivates me to keep a high standard of writing so it doesn't turn out to be a drag or useless to play the char. I've done a few of those, and I tell you - unless I like that char, it doesn't last long. It may not be any specific type or career, just something... different. Something I don't mind saying 'I play this guy/gal!' about. Well... I don't usually do that anyway, for fear of bias... Not that I think the Dreamscape crowd'll actually be biased or anything. I think I wouldn't mind playing something that isn't my own creation, as well, I know it too well. I need a challenge. That might be fun :) Having something assigned to me that isn't what I usually come up with. Anyone else think that may be fun? A true RPing test! :)

There was my babbling on and on and on. Hope it made decent sense... *shrug*
