Subject: Welcome to Leadership

•Traditional community leadership is disappearing or changing dramatically under the influence of globalization, corporate mergers/relocations, and other large-scale changes. The leadership shift is an irreversible change tied to the shift from an industrial economy to an informational economy.

What type of leadership do the emerging features of the information society suggest?

How do communities move through this transition?

How can cultural organizations, including foundations, help to fill the gap in community leadership?

How can we mobilize and engage leadership to create the unique signature of your community? How do you brand your communities to attract and retain talent?

How do you identify and call forth leadership in a diverse and mobile society?

How do leaders help to articulate core values, drawing on foundations in religion and the humanities, in a secular, pluralistic society?

Where are future political leaders coming from? How is political vision cultivated? What states are doing a good job of using visionary political leadership to forge ahead progressively?
