A pregnant female will den up near birth time. She
will go into a nest box and plug the hole shut. She
will not allow any other squirrel in the box. She may
attack you for peeking in. The females have a very short
fertile cycle. It is though to be 24-36 hours. If the
females get too sressed, they will kill or abandon the
the babies,also.
