Subject: Baby Update

As of today I have one baby that I know of, a few days old
so I don't know the future of that one yet. If the mother
still has them at 2-3 weeks they are usually safe.
A couple females seem to be denned up but don't look
pregnant to me.
I've lost three females in the last two months for no
apparent reasons. So there will even be fewer babies
than I expected and I didn't expect many at all.

The babies I kept to make another pair hasn't worked out
so far. He is the son of one of the most prolific males
I've had and she is the grand daughter of one of the most
prolific females I've had. They didn't produce any babies
last year, even though they were both over one year old,
and none this year so far. So you never know...

I'm torn between trying to find more females and just
forgetting it and selling out. Females will be hard to
find since I've only had success with squirrels native
to Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan. I had a pair from Florida
over five years and never saw one baby from them.
