While all of mine will poke their heads out, to see what I might have for them, GV's are not like dogs, nor even as likely to come to their names as cats. The best way to insure your buddy will come to you is to always make yourself the place they feel most comfortable, and safest. For me, that meant never using their come-to-me nature to then grab them and return them to confinement. (I don't cage, I use a closet, but the effect is the same.) If they get the idea that returning to you means, "All aboard, Next stop, Cage central", you can be sure they will learn to not come to you. It's better to get them in the cage by putting something in the cage that will really catch their attention, like a whole hazelnut or a wax worm, or even a piece of shortbread, if that is a special treat for them. Also, of course, the special treat reward is the way to convince them to come to you when they hear your voice. Molly loved my company, and was alone, otherwise, so she was always willing to seek me out. Mike and Mini and their brood have run of one room, so the hardest thing for me is getting OUT of the room, when I need to hit the hay, myself, without having one of them on me! I am their favourite airport!
