I would NEVER attempt to cut their nails, were I you, Tom. It should never be necessary, if you provide them with a suitable "emory" board. A very hard firewood split, like locust, and a stone upon which they can run and sit, should keep their nails trimmed. I finally got up the nerve to start the chain saw, yesterday, and cut up the long (over 14') multi-forked willow branch that fell a few weeks back. I've propped it in one corner of the den, allowing it to rest on the back of the loveseat for support, and the saddle horse, for security. I've hung the fish creels I bought at a home decor store from the branchs, and they are having a blast running up the branch, stopping to hide a hazelnut in one or the other creel, and then vaulting from the highest point of the branch, which touches the ceiling, to the draperies! The running up and down the branch, even 'tho it is willow, will also help keep their nails trim.
