Subject: Use a swivel head socket with 4" extension
In reply to: Eric 's message, "$70 for a spark plug wrench??" on 19:36:34 05/13/02 Mon

Welcome aboard. This car is a lot of fun. If you want more information about other support groups, procedures, etc. send me an email. The most important thing about the 928: Always stop the car if the belt tension light comes on. For that matter, check the tension ASAP, before it gets loose.

I tried a socket, universal, 4" extension, long extension, and ratchet in various combinations. Usually the socket would fall off down in the hole. It was tough to get out. I went to a pawn shop, and found a spark plug socket with an attached universal swivel, rusted solid to a 4" extension. This works great.

Autozone has the best tool prices around here. Look for something with a swivel attached to the socket. Maybe one of those t handle ones. If all else fails, super-glue together a socket, universal, and 4" extension.

HTH,
Thom
