for better or worse, here's my top ten for the year of 2001, but the real top ten in mundanesounds.com years will be around October 2002. until then, enjoy!

1. mundanesounds.com. Lois is still my queen, though. Through misfires and charming mistakes comes the greatness. This is for those who didn't make it. The dream continues.

2. Polyphonic Spree at the Ridglea Wedding and the Christmas Fest. A total live experience for the eyes, ears, and soul. Tim knows that it sure is fun to sing about life, and he gave nothing more than his all at these two shows. Tim and Polyphonic kids getting blessed by the holy spirit of music is a sight that must be seen. You'll feel loved. And indeed, they do love you! And you! And you! And you! And especially you!

3. Tripping Daisy "Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb": My greatest discovery of the year was the fact that this album is clearly one of the best records of the 1990s. Three years too late, I'm making up for lost time, and it fills the jones for post-Beginning Stages sounds. Hit the used stores, this one's an album!

4. Spoon "Girls Can Tell:" Britt Daniel and co. don't need no fancy intro, either you've heard them or you've not; I suggest that,.if you've not, you do. Girls can tell, but why would they tell you? Second best thing to a secret.

5. Love as Laughter "Sea to Shining Sea"---Proving once again that rock and roll is All American.

6. Piano Magic "Seasonally Affective" and "Son Del Mar" soundtrack: depressingly simple beauty that gives me reason to look forward to 2002.

7. Texas--Damn straight, I love my state! You should, too.

8. Hormel's Black Label Bacon Maple flavored: Just shut up and go buy some, so that you too can experience that maple-syrup taste in bacon form. Did you know that bacon is the number one cause of vegetarian desertion?

9. The fact that 2001 is finally over, the drought of good music is coming to an end with the fact that some really awesome music is coming out in January 2002.

10. Numbers 1-9 makes a particular thing that happened in December seem less sad.
