"Please?" The sarcastic tone in her voice was the only hint of nervousness the strong librarian's assistant displayed. Where other women might break down into tears after being abducted by a three-foot tentacled demon and taken to an unfamiliar facility where guards now trained weapons on her, Kathryn was remarkably collected.

"Listen....if you could just escort me back to my ship...well, the Starbase I work at's ship really...I can't fly. I've read about it, but I don't think I could do it. Anyway, if I could just get back there I'm sure I could activate a distress signal, maybe have someone retrieve the ship...and me?"

Kathryn blinked her piercing brown eyes as persuasively as she could, but it seemed like these soldiers meant business. With the commanding unit of their force escorting her captor to a temporary holding facility, they would not act on their own incentive.

Working in a library and being patient went arm in arm. Kathryn sighed, knowing salvation would come sooner or later. At least as long as she made no sudden movements she'd be safe with the Hub security force...
