The version of Slayer that Baen has is the older one, when I was still only publishing in electronic format. At that time, I released Slayer in 2000 with Slayer: Bloodlines to be released in 2001. But in 2001 I went under contract with KHP Industries and the publisher re-shuffled the dates on the books.

Consequently, the publishing date for Slayer: Bloodlines was moved. Essentially, Bloodlines was swapped with another book (not in the Slayer series) titled Scarabus, for the next "publishing slot" on the calendar. Unfortunately, my publisher was affected by the Twin Towers disaster and the publishing schedule fell behind several months. Since then, he's recovered and the way the schedule looks right now, Summer 2002 will see the release of Scarabus with Bloodlines coming in in late 2002 or very early 2003. You could say that Slayer suffered from a massive re-organization.

I hope some of that made sense. :o)

I'm not actually a Baen author, but Jim Baen was good enough to include my book because it was previously published and the authors and editors at Baen are really great people who didn't mind giving me the extra promotion. Right now, Scarabus, Slayer: Bloodlines and Slayer: Black Miracles (a collection of shorter work in the Slayer series) will all be released in trade paperback. Keep an eye on the site for updates on the forthcoming novels.
