Subject: Plum the Horse

Well we now have entered the world of horse ownership. (The financial black-hole of horse ownership! Yikes these things are expensive!)

Number 2 daughter Mary has saved her money over the past 2 years, done odd jobs, whatever it took and finally got enough to buy a horse. This weekend she became the proud owner of "Plum". Plum is a quarter horse - Welsh Mountain pony cross. She is just over 14 hands high, white and is a stocky block of a horse. When you look at her she looks like a barrel with tree stumps for legs. Plum is 20 years old and spent most of her life as a guest ranch / guide / pack horse. She is quite gentle. When we first looked at her the owner told us of her background and then he mentions "She has been used for hunting and packing out elk and deer. She's steady around gun fire." Well that was enough for me!! he-he-he.

That was all 2 weeks ago. This past Saturday Mary and I were on the road up to the mountain ranch where Plum lived to pick her up. It was a fun day trip, highlighted with a bald eagle sighting!

I hope to get a picture to post in the next few weeks.

Bill
