This evening, thursday Nov. 29th, Thor Heyerdahl appeared in a telecasted debate on Norwegian television, debating his theory about Odin and the Aeses from the acclaimed sagas of Snorri Sturluson.

The theory in short is; Odin was a title or a name of a king of a tribe of people probably coming from Troy, and that later settled in the area around today's Azov (Northern Caucasus, Russia) at the shores of the river Don (close to the river's delta out into the Azov Sea). When the Romans came the tribe of people, lead by Odin fled the entire area, fleeing through eastern europe, up to Scandinavia, and settled there. They were the ancestors of the Vikings, the Norse culture.

He is now "attacked" by Norwegian professors, specialists on Snorre's type of writing, and specialists on the Norse culture and history. Thor Heyerdahl is the leader of a team of international researches, which back their theory on archeological find at Azov.

At an age of almost 90, Thor Heyerdahl still creates some disturbance among the scientists and specialists.

Russian authorities has asked Thor Heyerdahl to please continue his archeological escavations at Azov, and they've also asked him to establish a Norwegian-Russian Research Center of Norse culture in Azov.

I look forward to the continuance of this. In my eyes it looks like he is stiring the pot, and the pot heats to quick (professors in outrage and laughing). In my opinion he should stir a wee bit more, so things might be a wee bit more tender. ;o)

I think he is onto something!

P.S. My source would be the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. I didn't tape the debate. D.S.
