Don't get me started on step familys. From the sounds of your situation makes mine look like a cake walk.

theres no advice I can give you on this subject except that hopefully in later generations society will be more accustum to divorce and ironicly we will be able to handle this type of family but as far as I'm concernd. Your parents are doing something good for you right now! there teaching you what not to do. There giving you a respect for a stable home which in return you may grant your children in the future. unfortunatley The numbers almost always show blended familys socialy troubled and hopelessly cursed to be disfunctional. Though I have no official numbers I say this because of the 100 or so people I know who's parents split up and remarried not one is in a situation as good as an a normal family who's parents stick together and love and respect eachother till death do them part(well duh). At the same time familys that stick together but never solve there problems are worse off then ones who choose to split because there both in hell its just one doesn't know it.
This problem is so damn broad and so fucking complicated that I'm sure that 100's of phycoligists are working aroundthe clock to figure it out before we have a national crisis on our hands
In others words make the best of a bad situation and learn from your parents mistakes
