hey Dean.

My last kayak (NOW FOR SALE< ANY BUYERS??) was a flame 2000.
Apparently a wiered layup of Kevlar, carbon-kevlar, kevlar. (3 layers in total)
New it weighed just under 7.5kg

Now it weighs about 8 - 8.5kg. Not exactly sure as it is currently being repaired.

I personally would not want to paddle a competitive boat over 9kg. the reason being, I can get a boat that light, and also bc I weigh about 56kg and I really notice the difference in terms of being able to throw the boat around in a game, I think if I was 20kg heavier I wouldn't care so much about a few kgs.

I would consider a boat 12kg + to be heavy. However, I am looking at next year having a training boat and perhaps a lightweight boat for competitions (ie not for weekly use). BC I enjoy playing in mens grades, which means I often get to play B grade players who are really hard on boats. So a lighter boat does get a bit mashed by T bone tackles.
