I've just bought a 1970 fastback which has been converted to twin webbers. This is my first aircooled vw (i just finished restoring a mk2 gti)All i want to do is change my sparkplugs, i've read the haynes back to front , and it seems that to actually get to the plugs i have to remove the cylinder covers as the access holes are useless. however to do this the carbs need to come off and this is the problem. ive removed the bolts that mount it to the manifold but it s not going anywhere. what am i missing? or is there an easier way to remove the cylinder covers, or get to the plugs?
