Subject: Lost faith in NAPE

After years of being stepped on by government, and NAPE, our union just standing by and doing nothing, many of our members have become very disgruntled and negative. We are no longer proud to be a part of NAPE, or government employees. After ten years of nothing from government , including our last contract , and government taking from us, eg. (wages 1990, workers compensation benefits, shrinking Blue Cross benefits along with a rising cost of living), It's time for NAPE to show some courage, show some strength, show some leadership. NAPE members pay our elected and permanent employees a good salary and benefit package, one of the best in Canada for government union employees. We don't need our union to be another level of government, where our needs and concerns are put on the back burner, where our phone calls and inquires go unnoticed and where our union representatives are just going through the motions of representing us without putting their heart and soul into it, where working for us has just become an unimportant job. We don't need a union that continues to pass back to us government policies and rhetoric. We need a union that's going to treat us with respect, to represent us vigorously at and away from the bargaining table. We need a union that's going to fight to the bitter end, whether it's a winning or losing cause when it comes to representing us. We need a union that's going to set government policy. We need a union that going to do what there getting paid to. We need a union that our membership will respect and admire , AND SO FAR THAT'S NOT NAPE. The old saying that a union is only as strong as its membership also has a flip side, and that is, THE MEMBERSHIP IS ONLY AS STRONG AS IT'S LEADERSHIP, and right now we don't have any. It's time for us to take back our union. Lets do it....
