A Deliciously Sharp Edge

Like the blade over which I run my fingers
when disregard is mine, you are sharp enough
and I do not fear the slice, the free flow of anything
between us. We have taken hold of the edge
a million times, seen cuts that fall to the bone
and the resolve of humanity broken.

To know not why you would invade me, there is yet
perverse pleasure seen in you, a savage hint in an eye
that endears to its red domination. As though enemy
and friend were the same, as though muscle must flex
though it serves no gain and gains no service,
you have been honed deliciously sharp.

I would, into softness, yield, yet am I ever
kept from you, all facets and pricks concealed
until they are needed. Unsheathed from your armour
as thin as the gloss of mica, as strong as a mountain
and hard as a diamond heart, there is no doubt
you should know. I am sharply constructed of stone.
