You are a buried treasure:
all ornaments, facets,
bangles, and coins; all
things of purported value.

I have unearthed you
as both the pride of kings
and the chests within which
all wealth must heavily wait.

You are carved and leather
bound, glyphed and gilded,
gem set and lovingly strung
as becomes an artisan's pride

so late exhumed from the ground.
Oh, the wonders you hold
so anxious, revealing
a sparkling miasma within.

I must have hands to shade
my eyes, for I am blinded.
You are confined to one place
by the simple hindrance of weight.

Know this: that with grace
I may move you,
run my hands through
your cascades of gold.

With love, you may shine
in such gentle ways
to enable my eyes to see.
As we strive to behold

all things that are precious,
together, unending contentment
comes of learning
to temper the wealth.
