W wasn't given the election by the courts. The Supreme Court order the recounts to stop after myriad tries to figure out a way to give it to Gore. Bush won the recounts every time, and thus, won the electoral votes necessary to become president, according to the Constitution. The democrats spun the lies that the election was stolen, knowing there would be enough fools to believe and thus, discredit Bush. I'm not fan of Bush, but this is the fact. Anyone who believes otherwise is either ignorant or a fool.

Actually, Obama won much of the South, so I don't know if racism is any more of a factor there than in the Midwest, which is largely Republican. I will agree that the Republicans sent jobs overseas, and entered Iraq to take control of the oil wells. The fact is that the masses are stupid, and follow the crowd. Compare WWII Germany and other horrors. It was alway the masses that went along with the evildoers, never questioning, or learning the truth. That tells me that many people are robots and very gullible. They prefer to have the corporations and politicians tell them what's best for them. The Republicans fit that category to the tee.

The history of the south before the 1970's was violent and ugly. The tables have turned a full 360. If you don't live in the south or travel here you wouldn't know that. I moved to the south many years ago, from New York. I saw more hatred in Long Island, Brooklyn, and Queens, than I ever saw anywhere.I've heard many anti black and jewish comments made by people from that area when I lived there. I have read all these arguments about Obama et al. Folks, this isn't a debate of republicans vs. democrats, liberal vs. conservatives, black vs. white, rich vs. poor, etc. All of this is a distraction from the real issue. I am an independent. I do not like Obama's policies, not because he is black, not because he is a democrat. I oppose them because they are bad for the country.

Slowly, gradually, like the frog in the kettle, we are losing our rights and freedoms as Americans. Our freedom of speech is being compromised with talk about banning talk radio and conservative speech. Whether or not you agree with those voices, we must allow for all points of view to be heard. That is the first amendment. And we shouldn't be threatened by a view other than the one we hold. America is made of diverse opinions. So let's have Fox New and CNN and NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.

I listen and read all of the views I can. It keeps me informed. My concern is not which party is in office, but the total corruption of both parties. Obama promised change, but he has proven to be as corrupt as his predecessors, maybe more so.

I am concerned that our freedoms under the free market system are collapsing. We have turned over our banks, our insurance, the auto industry, and who know what else to a bunch of corrupt, inexperienced politicians.

If we get government out of the way, the free market system would work. Reduce the size of government, cut taxes, and people will have more to spend. The more they spend the more goods and services will be produced, and thus more jobs. As Pres. Reagan said, "The government isn't the solution to our problem. The government IS the problem."

I pray that we, as a nation, will return to our roots and core principles. We are Americans. We can do it. And we don't need the help of corrupt big government.

It would take a constitutional amendment to change the term limits of a United States senator or congressman. This usually is a 10 year process. After the congress votes for the amendment, it has to go to each state legislature to be ratified. An individual citizen of a state is not involved in this process at all. Very few amendments to the U.S. constitution over the past 200 years have been successful. The framers made it very difficult to change the constitution on purpose.

Actually it was the Japanese that plunged us into WWII, and later Hitler declared war on the U.S.

Kennedy and Johnnson made some stupid blunders that caused needless deaths. Vietnam gave us a black eye.

The Bush administration intentionally twisted intelligence to go to war in Iraq, lied to the public, the uneducated and conservatives bought it, the corporations benefited from it. The vets who supported it lost lives and limbs. Today the economy and morale is in shambles for it, the bad guys were rewarded financially, and the white collar criminals are smiling and enjoying life, while the rest are homeless and/or struggling. So what is YOUR POINT?

I'm an independent, but that guy who wrote about all the recent wars is right. Democrats were in office when we got into all those wars. Bush got us into an arguably senseless war in Iraq, but even the Democrats agreed with the contemporary intelligence that there were WMDs there and said so publicly until the winds of public opinion started blowing in a different direction.

Bush wasn't a very good president, but he wasn't as terrible as the Democrats and the media would like for us to believe. He lowered our taxes, but he spent money more like a Democrat than a Republican. The Dems should have loved him.

As for bad presidents, how could there ever be one any worse than Jimmy Carter. Space doesn't allow me the opportunity to list all his blunders. Obama, well, he IS a Socialist and spending our children into poverty. McCain was a terrible choice, but we'd probably be a little better off, but not much, if he had gotten elected.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as either party continues to ignore the Constitution, we're heading for more trouble as a nation. And all we have is too parties, more concerned about themselves than the country, fighting while the ship sinks.

Well, here we are at 10.2 % unemployment; the highest in over 25 years. And obama said that if we didn't have his stimulus package, it would likely go over 8%. I wonder how much longer old Mr. Hope and Change will blame it on Bush. What a leaderless joke he is.

Oh, and did you catch his statement on the Ft. Hood shootings yesterday? After he yucked it up with his audience, he finally put on a solemn face and made his statement. Not first, but dead last. What a phony hypocrite!

Again for the record, I am not a republican. I am a conservative independent. You can throw both Bushes in my face and I'll throw them back. Both weren't very good presidents and certainly weren't conservatives. But, to blame President Reagan for destroying the economy, do you remember that he inherited a much worse economy from Jimmy Carter than Obama did from Bush.

Jimmy Carter left us with 12% unemployed and an interest rate of 21%. Remember the malaise index? Gas prices skyrocketed. Inflation was well into double digits. Reagan came to office, cut taxes, cut capital gains, and the economy took off. The only problem was, he had both houses controlled by democrats and for every dollar he took in to the treasury, they spent $1.87. That's what liberals in both parties do. They can't stop spending our money and tax us for more to meet their insatiable spending habits.

All politicians make promises the know they cannot keep. But Obama is a liar. His promises are pipe dreams and the public is becoming aware of it. He's in way over his head and those advisors who surround him are no better.

Socialism and liberalism has never been successful anywhere, anytime on earth. Some people will never learn.

They will also try to steal some of the credit just because they put even more pressure on the banks to make sorry loans. Old Dodd even wants the credit just because he got a big kickback from Countrywide Mortgage.

I'll try to rebut big al's diatribe if I can make any sense out of it. First,
conservatives don't object to paying taxes. Some taxes are necessary for things like maintaining the infrastructure, providing for the courts, a strong military, education, and taking care of those with genuine needs who cannot provide for themselves. What we object to is excessive taxes which takes money out of the private sector and thus destroys jobs. We object to politicians of every party taking our money to buy votes. We object to socializing everything with our tax dollars. Capitalism works just fine. It provides opportunities for those who really want to, to make it in this world. America enjoys the greatest standard of living of any nation in the world thanks to the free market.

big al calls Fox (news?) liars, but he did not offer a single example. Not one. So I cannot rebut that.

Taxpayers pay for Social Security and Medicare with each pay check. It's mandatory and is automatically taken from our pay. We have no choice. And thanks to big al's government, both are broke. The congress has stolen the money and left nothing but a pile of IOUs. Investing part or all of it in the private sector by the taxpayers would have had a much higher yield. These are nothing more than a progressive tax to benefit the politicians.

As for Pres. Reagan (Raygun???), he inherited a huge deficit from Jimmy Carter, a tax and spend liberal. Reagan cut taxes and capital gains and the economy flourished. The only problem was, for every dollar received in the treasury, the democratic controlled congress spend $1.87.

Now, as for those who opposed Obama's socialistic ideology being racists, I can only say, as someone else said here, that he had a 70% approval when he took office and now is below half. Did those people who no longer support his wild ideas, did they become racists? No, and those who use the race card do so because they cannot argue the point any other way - like with the facts.

There will always be ignorant people like big al. I just hope they will quit letting the liberal media control their thinking for them before the country becomes a third world or a socialist country, much like eastern Europe.
