This is my senior year and I have a lot going on as well. My improv group is now an official college organization and next year Mr. Bliss is going to make it a one-hour credit class which is great because I only have 11 hours of classes left to take so this will keep me full time.
I missed out on a few one acts they didn't because I didn't find out in time but around my school, student directed plays tend to have some bias in the casting where the directors always end up casting their friends. I thought I had a shot at getting in this play called "Five Women Wearing the same dress" until at the audions Katlyn Vankirk showed up. She's a theatre major who's been the lead in several of the big productions on campus and the girl directing the play was her good friend.
I haven't been in too many plays because the theatre/speech majors basically get first dibs. Once I thought I had a really good shot at getting in a small play called "Slop Culture" where the roles were for 2 girls and 2 boys. Only 5 people auditioned and I was the only girl who auditioned so you'd think I'd have a decent shot. Instead the director cast all his friends, only one of which actually audtioned. What's the point of having auditions if you're only going to cast your friends?
So now I just do improv though I might try out for "Bloody Poetry" and "The Tempest" in the spring. I've just been busy now trying to get everything in order to graduate this spring, along with Improv and now being a yearbook photographer. And now I have a boyfriend who's leaving in a few weeks to go overseas and fight the war on terror and I've been spending a lot of time with him. Luckily he'll only be gone for a month or so.
So I've been pretty busy myself. There are times I come home Monday evenings and suddenly I remember "Hey Whose Line's on tonight." I don't watch much TV these days.
