Im 21 and beleive it or not I went to this clinic once cause I couldnt get an appointment with my doc and the nurse first asked me if I wanted an oral or rectal? I bugged out but said oral and then she asked me the same thing for the Gardisil vaccine- Arm or butt? That one I took in the butt because it hurt less.

You'd take a vaccination in your buttocks, yet refuse the option of a rectal temperature. My question is...why? Mind answering?

A rectal temperature isn't the same as getting a shot in the butt. I would be too embarrassed also unless it was done by a g/f or another woman that I knew well. It may sound weird, but getting your temp. taken rectally as a teen or adult by a nurse, is humiliating. However, it's great to enjoy the fetish with a willing partner. Does that make sense? BTW- I've never experienced an rt since the age of 5. Maybe outside the U.S. it happens, but I find it surprising to hear some of these stories taking place, especially with adults.

I would find it very exciting and erotic to have a nurse ask me to turn over for a rectal temp. Not humiliating at all!

I would be glad to have my rt taken at the clinic-but would prefer it to be done by a female nurse or doctor-the same with shot's-I am not embarassed by the rt procedure-it is the most accurate method to check body core temp-and the excitement of having a female perform this adds's the the moment-even an older nurse's (who wear's the white uniform, white nurse's hat, white stocking's, and white shoe's)--or one with the updated medical scrub's-either is ok with me-it is the anticipation of the moment and knowing that someone is taking care of you, professional in the procedure, and maybe understand's the imbedded memory of the past-when rt were the normal way's of taking temp for everyone growing up.

When I had my infected tonsils removed and the flu 6 years ago, I was given the option of in the ear or rectal. I chose in the ear, and for some reason, when she put the thermometer in either ear, it really hurt like the dickens where they had cut my tonsils out. So I let her take it rectally after that. It was embarrassing, but at least it didn't hurt.

One time i went to the doctor and i really enjoyed going because Id get a rectal temp every time. then they gave me the choice and i said bottom. the nurse said ok. them my mom butted in and said lets try mouth this time. i hated the sharp oral thermometer under my tung.
once dad took my temp rectally in the living room. it was so heavely.

I was offered the option by a couple of friend's moms when staying at their home, during my teen years, when I came down with a fever. I decided to have it taken by mouth, because I felt it was too humiliating to have my temp. taken rectally in front of my friends, and by their mom. I've always had the impression that rt's are for babies and really young children, or people who have mental disabilities, or serious illnesses. In my home, it was taken orally around age 5 through the time that I packed off for college. I still think that my friends who had it taken rectally were being treated like babies by their mom, and in some cases maybe sexually abused. It was too weird for me to see that.

At 14 in hospital I had just been admitted and my parents had left when a nurse came around and said I need to have my details taken. I had the usual exam and then she said he would take my temp and I automatically turned over.
She said Oh ok we can take it there if you want and for the rest of the stay I had rectal temps.This was in the early 1960s

In my case it was the infirmary for an overnight camp. Age 9 was the time when we would spend the summer at an overnight camp and not the day camp. I went to one in Wisconsin that did a lot of camping and canoe trips. We had a camping trip that was rained on almost the whole time. I told the counselor my knees were shaking when we got back. He looked at me, saw how pale I was, and sent me to the infirmary. The camp nurse was an old woman, and the year was 1955. It was customary to ask the camper how his mother took his temperature at home because many had it taken rectally until age 10 or more. I pointed to my rear end, knowing I could have pointed to my mouth instead, but it was how my temperature was taken at home and I was used to it and actually liked it that way. Just like the nurse at the doctor's office, the old pro was very skilled, but they tended to slip it in and out very quickly and not bother to hold it while it was in. That took some of the fun out of it, but having someone new do it was always an adventure for me, and it still is that way!

My doctor and my mom stopped with the rectal temps. around age 6, but my mom let my siblings and I decide what we wanted. Sometimes I chose rectal because it felt so good. Most of the time, I wanted it done orally, especially if there were other people in the house.
