If you are still not sure, do what I do, smell the end of the thermometer. The smell test is fool proof and rather exciting at the same time. Try it the next time you take your childrens temperature. There is also a distinct difference between a boy and girls smell test. It is best not to let your children see you do this test inasmuch as they might think this procedure is rather queer in nature.
