Deleted article "Mainstream Mum on Jewish Terror Attack

It came to my attention that the article "Mainstream Mum on Jewish Terror Attack" had been posted to Vive. I didn't post it and I wouldn't have. The article was clearly biased and racist in nature. It defended/promoted Paul Fromm, whose infamous links to white supremacist and fascist organizations are well-known. As just one example in the 1990s Fromm spoke on a number of occasions to gatherings of the neo-Nazi Heritage Front, including a celebration of Adolf Hitler's birthday. He is a far-right activist and his ideas run entirely counter to those of Vive, since on this site we advocate a progressive nationalism that is inclusive and protective of immigrants and all people. I would like to remind readers and members that our policy on acceptable content states:
"The following things are considered UNACCEPTABLE and will be deleted from the vivelecanada.ca website by our moderators:
- hate speech as defined by the Canadian Government (this includes anything directed at Americans)
- death threats to any individual or group, even if you claim it is a joke
- slogans or symbols from a hate group like the KKK or nazis, even if you claim it is a joke
- racial slurs, of any description
- copyright infringement, including full reposting of articles without express permission from the author(s)
- personal attacks or libellous statements
- advertisements or spam
- duplicate posts
Comments or posts may be deleted from time to time for other reasons; in all cases, our moderators will post an explanation of the deletion in our Moderation Log. Remember that you are posting here as a guest, and all we ask is that you show proper respect to everyone else and act like a reasonable adult."
Also, our code of conduct for members states:

Article 47 of our by-laws:
All members shall commit, without exception, to the following principles:
a.fair and democratic decision-making;
b.reasoned and productive dialogue, even in cases of conflict;
c.not to permit speech or materials that promote racism or hate against any individual or group
d.not to stereotype or discriminate against individuals or groups based on race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, civil status, age, religion, language, handicap or the use of a means to palliate a handicap.
Therefore I have deleted the article. I'd like to ask that all editors, proofers and moderators be more vigilant in the future and refrain from posting any more material of this kind. I'd like to remind readers that if they have a problem with any content on Vive they can contact me directly at susan.thompson@vivelecanada.ca and I will make sure to deal with the issue.
To those who will say that I am blocking free speech, I will remind you that those of us who run this website have the right to create a safe environment for our readers and members and that anyone is free to create their own site if they want to spout racist garbage, although there are laws against hate in this country so you'll be taking your chances regarding potential charges. I'd also like to remind you that despite his claims of being a free speech advocate, Fromm has unsuccessfully attempted to sue the Canadian Jewish Congress amongst others for using their own free speech to describe him as a neo-Nazi, which he is.
I would also like to post here the comments of the Canadian Jewish Congress, which are fair and deal with the facts that the article ignored.
Dear Ms Thompson –
Canadian Jewish Congress recently received an email drawing my attention to the article, Mainstream Mum on Jewish Terror Attack, which has been posted on your website. Having read the feedback on this article it is clear that your readers have differing views on this matter. CJC’s position on the matter of Paul Fromm is a matter of public record so I will not recapitulate it here beyond stating that we concurred with the finding of the Arbitration Board which upheld Mr. Fromm’s termination in part because “a teacher, as a role model to his/her students and as a representative of the school board, occupies a central position in any education system that extends beyond the classroom.” The decision continues, saying: “Further, we know that the standard of conduct that a teacher must meet is greater than the minimum standard of conduct otherwise tolerated given the public responsibility that a teacher must fulfill and the expectation of the community.”
Having read the article in question, we wish to draw the following elements to your attention:
* The title indicates that the mainstream was silent on the incident involving Mr. Fromm and the JDL. This is factually incorrect as an article appeared in the Globe and Mail, found here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20070420.FROMM20/TPStory/National .
* The title refers to the incident as a “terror attack”. This is wild hyperbole. The individuals were charged with assault.
* The characterization of the current hearings as “Zionist-instigated” is inflammatory and unsubstantiated.
* The termination of Mr. Fromm resulted from his persistent activities rather than ongoing pressure.
* Mr. Fromm’s comment regarding “Zionist terrorism” represents an attempt to portray himself as a victim of an international conspiracy when in fact he is the victim of his own bad choices.
* The article concludes with an attempt to link the incident involving Mr. Fromm to an arson incident in New York City. To the best of my knowledge, no arrests have been made in that incident so the link suggested between Fromm, the JDL and the arson incident is non-existent.
This list is hardly comprehensive and does not even begin to address the assumptions that inform the position of Mark Glenn (who wrote the original article). The article promotes a highly biased position, provides no balance and is designed more to appeal more to the emotion than to the intellect.
We hope that in the future such submissions, which reveal an obvious bias, will be carefully vetted by the moderator.
