Subject: East

I love the clear Eastern sky just after sunset,
the deep but violent blue that turns black anything near it . . .
and how eerily glows upon the snow
to create smooth blue cotton candy covering fields
and ravaged by sticky hungry fingers by the roadside,
as one solitary but ever-so-bright star appears a
nd the moon seems to hang like a pendulum from it,
as the world of dreamers speak in unison
"Star light, star bright,"
and it all seems so believable
because the cotton candy sits peaceful all around
and when there is just one star in the sky,
one clear spot of light,
how can dreamers believe anything else?

How can anyone believe anything else?
