* I hate humans and over the years you will hear many things about that fact.* He turned to the barn kicking open the tack room door.* I have burned everything that had ever been used by the humans except the barn. In the cold winters the barn is our only safe place from the extreme cold here.* He sighed.* I'd understand why you wouldn't like the thought of a barn but the territory is vast and there are many open fields, meadows, and grasslands to roam while there are the forests like this one where the old buildings are ancient. No people live here and they never will. The barn though is a matter of life and death for any horse wishing to survive out in the harsh climate.* Again he paused regaining his breath for he was still a bit weak.* THe stall doors have long since rotted off and were removed and burned along with the other junk in the barn. It still stands for now and is truely the only real protection from the wind and rain up here. THe ice though is a different story. It protects from it but will ice us right in if it last too long.* He turned to look back at the mare hoping this had not upset her for it was lonely in such a huge territory with no others around.
