the stallion's head jerks up from grazing, his keen blue eyes grazing the surrounding woods. he had heard the beat of hooves. his eyes sweep back around the herd. they were all there. aha! he heard it again. right in front of him. but there was nothing. suddenly, a sharp sliver of sunlight pours from the overcast sky, sending bright light into the clearing. there! he saw her, and gave out a scream-like whinny, tearing back to the herd, galloping around, warning them of the danger of intruders.
