I've posted here many times that if we were really serious about saving energy and lowering greenhouse gases, all that we would have to do is computer control stop lights and ban driveups. That would do more than all the other nonsense that is proposed and just about nobody would be inconvienced. The idea that you will get people all over the world to stop driving or turning their heat or cooling up or down is proposterous. Just go into a store that has turned down their AC and listen to the people bitch and walk out the door. >We talk a good game but when it comes time for action >and making sacrifices and changing our way of life, we >(present company excluded) don't seem to have the will >to make it happen. Even a simple thing like picking up >trash, as I do, my neighbors agree the road looks a >mess. But do you see anyone of them hauling a bag and >picking up trash? No! It's somebody else's job. Me. >The Town or whoever. >Another example shows up in today's news. The EU is >asking the Germans to slow it down on the autobahn in >oder to reduce emissions. The response has been like >you're asking them to cut off their right arm!! >So it would seem that while we have a concern about >the state of the environment and potential disaster, >few seem willing to take any action upon themselves. >And that includes me as I am no shining example. >We'll just flounder along like we usually do until >something drastic makes us change our habits.
