Date Posted: 11:44:20 12/24/07 Mon In reply to: Oropan 's message, "More fuel for the fire" on 08:10:06 12/21/07 Fri >U.S. Senate Report: Over 400 Prominent Scientists >Disputed Man-Made Global Warming Claims in 2007 Is this going to end up like the Oregon Petition? In that one, 19,000 "prominent scientists" signed it, including the entire cast of M*A*S*H and the Spice Girls. When Scientific American checked the signatures, they found barely 1% were valid signatures of scientists that had anything to do with climate research whatsoever. It was the brainchild of Frederick Seitz, one of the most prominent and well-funded deniers out there. Worked well; people fell for it. Oddly, even though all 19,000 people signed it, and the petition said there was no evidence the planet was warming, it kept on warming anyway. I guess the climate doesn't read petitions. Who'd a thunk it? So if this one is as valid as the Oregon Petition was, it means that 4 climate scientists just signed a letter saying they disagreed with global warming.
