Date Posted: 14:14:08 04/10/07 Tue In reply to: Oropan 's message, "Re: THis is not local its a fact that the middle class is not gaining much in income" on 13:01:41 04/10/07 Tue my aunt owns a small home in n. part of seattle think its about 800 sq ft . Her house value is 350 000 dollars . This is hardly a home big enough for a family . If young people bought it if they were paying 6 percent interest with their taxes and ins without paying anything on the principle would be about 2050 a month . One cannot rent anything for less than 1500 a month . Go look at the classified in the seattle newspaper for housing costs . at your wage of 20 dollars a hr this would be about 3200 a month before ss before withholding before , state industrial , before any other costs . Also there is the cost of commuting to the job , clothing , food , utilities. medical or medical ins plus copays . etc your 20 dollar a hr worker is now going in the hole every month and seattle is certainly not alone in housing costs.
