as it should. I prefer it to be in the form of constructive discourse and not the nitpicky horse pucky that has grown and flourished in the past dozen or so years. The "news" media has become nothing more than divisive cheerleaders. Journalism, let alone the investigative kind seem to no longer exist. It's a pity that there are no easily accesed outlets to get real information that actually informs people about what is going on in government and world events. "Gotcha news" is not what we all deserve.

I completely agree about the leaders of our nation setting examples. I have been in favor of reigning in pomp and privledge for a very long time. The difficult times most of us are, and have been facing seems lost on the sensibilities of those in D.C. I'm certain Christmas at the W.H. this year will be yet another unnecessary extravagant display while there are people out of work, unable to afford medications and medical attention, while food bank shelves quickly empty and people huddle under blankets to keep warm because heat is a necessary cutback. People have cut back on simple comforts but the W.H. will remain decked out in overblown fashion with lighting, plants, flowers, decorations and additional staff to plan, execute, maintain and clean up after the holidays. Austere and spartan is what I'd like to start seeing in government buildings and those that work there everyday. Forgive my ramble but the wasteful spending I observe for appearance sake disgusts me.
