True Conservatives, like myself, agree with the likes of Teddy Roosevelt that certain areas should be set aside for the enjoyment of all citizens and maintained by the Federal Government. True Conservatives, like myself, also believe what money we do spend should be spent in the most efficient way possible.

Your rant aside, having commissioned the building of a similar structure within the last few years, I can tell you a $21,000 price tag is a damn good deal.

One of the greatest American conservatives of all times was a tree hugger. Now, you, as a somewhat more liberal person, may be against Federal parks, forests, lands, monuments etc. But if we are going to have them then we are charged with maintaining them at a certain level. This particular expenditure is worthy of Federal spending - maintaining Federal land is part of it's job.

My point is assuming all Federal spending is wasteful simply because Pelosi, Reid and Obama's name is on the dotted line, or that it is worthy simply because Hastert, Frist and Bush's name are on the dotted line is silly and childish. You are being asked to use whatever few bits of grey matter the good Lord saw fit to park between your ears. Obviously a task that does not suit you.
