Hey Christina
I don't know any similarities between the families, but they do differ greatly. The Shimerda's are different in the way they live and in the way that they speak to others, like the way they always complain, of having nothing, they need some social skills. The worst at complaining is Mrs. Shimerda, and she makes it sound like that they don't have nothing, it is really pathetic!!
I do think that they have tried to adapt to America, but of course it is going to be hard, i know this from personal experience. I think, also, that they have gotten used to the fact that they are poor and will have to adapt.
The fact that they do not have their father has really affected Antonia because she now has turned in more like a "boy" than a young woman, all the characteristics mentioned in the book, and the way Jim describes her is really making her look like a "boy".
So what do you think?
Is Antonia ever going to change back?
What other views do you have of the book?
Please Reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ☻
