Hey Sam,

I found a website that partly answers your question about St. James. If you go to

you can read a detailed explanation of the possible answers. No one is absolutely sure about the box and who St. James actually is but it does not disprove Catholic doctrine. The names Jesus, James and Joseph were very common back in the day and the box never said anything about James being the son of Mary. James could have been an adopted son of Joseph or a step-brother of Jesus through Joseph. Also, there is no Aramaic word for cousin and therefore the word "brother" could have been used to mean cousin.

The Catholic Church teaches that Mary was a virgin in the sense that she had no biological children. This finding of the bones of St. James does nothing to disprove that. I hope that this and the web site answers your question.
