Good Day Dmitry,

I am not a expert on the subject, but some ideas from me on how you might get a very rough weight for the vessel are as follows.

1. Find a sister ship and use the hydrostatic tables for that ship.

2. If the ship concerned has any lines drawing left onboard or the original builders have the drawings, then you could calculate the underwater volume of the vessel from them.

3. Most cargo ships are essentially box shaped in their middle sections, so you could assume a box shaped vessel in order to calculate the volume of water displaced by the middle section of the vessel and then make a approximate calculation for the volume of the remaining bow and stern sections.

Kind Regards,
Mike, Dolphin Maritime Software Ltd
