If your dancer is PW and has qualified for Oireachtas, they will need to qualify again if they move to PC during the qualification time of the year. So, let’s say they qualify for PC in April and have already qualified for Oireachtas which will take place in November, they will need to qualify again by PC standards by September to be able to go to Oireachtas. So there’s a risk they won’t make it and will miss out. Also, I have seen my TC hold some back when she honestly doesn’t think they’re ready. A dancer might win PW at an easy feis with minimal competition and while they can be proud of that win, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re ready for PC. I would check with the teacher to find out their reasoning for holding back.
