Our school had a committee of parents and a bank account, any money received from performances or any fundraisers went into that account and paid for dancers going to Nationals and Worlds, school dresses etc, all dancers who participated, benefited. As a fellow parent of a dancer, our TC got the same share as everyone else when funds were divided. -- Main Irish Dance Message Board!

Aside from developing confidence for a select few, there is no inherent benefit for dancers to perform unpaid. My kids never paid to be in theater either. Where do you live? Never got gas money or paid parking for dance outs. I guess some schools are better at sharing the wealth in March.
