The missionary who tried to defend Kaleb Hong argued with the story of Rahab. Of course, this is a wrong interpretation (see here, for example). But "situation ethics" is a common pattern in UBF. Another example are the divorces: As you know, if it is considered good for UBF, divorce is allowed.

Concerning situation ethics, I believe that indeed there could be situations where lying is allowed. For instance, in certain situations where it is the only way to safe the life of somebody. E.g. imagine that you lived in the time of Hitler and hided Jews in your home, the Gestapo is knocking on your door and asks whether the Jew is in your home. I think in such a situation, lying is allowed. And I believe that UBF leaders try to justify their lying in a similar way saying they are "saving the spiritual life" of people, because if they knew the truth of UBF they would immediately loose their faith.

One Korean missionary told me how they had to collect money by selling peanuts on the street and in restaurants in Korea. They told the people they were collecting money "for the poor." Later, the missionary learned that the money was used to buy a building for UBF. When he told his leader that his conscience plagued him about these lies, the leader told him that he should be quiet, because it was not a lie, since the money was for the "spiritually poor students." In this way, UBF leaders try to justify everything. Or read the letter by Sarah Barry about financial issues. She justified the piling up of money on bank accounts with the Bible as well.

UBF leaders are good in justifying everything with the Bible, even lying.
