Do scientists change their minds, or does an older generation die out and a different generation of thinkers with their new theories replace them. These are also important questions for the Christian.

Well, yes they do, as otherwise they'd be quite on their own. You might not be aware of the innumerable scientific publications, monthly newsletters on research, inventions, etc. These DO affect a scientist's way of thinking and their further research. I think you'd be amazed to see how much scientists need to study every month to "stay up to date". A scientist who is not "up to date" will quickly become obsolete and will be replaced. You don't need to agree with the state of art in your subject, but you must know what is going on.
What you are referring to is pride, causing a scientist to disagree with anything that doesn't fit his own world view. That, of course, happens, and it's quite common. Yet - it happens EVERYWHERE.
Do you know why UBF doesn't reform? Same thing.

And that brings us full-circle back to the debate of science vs. religion (while I don't agree it should be a "versus" but an "and" maybe): where humans are those who make the decisions, subjective errors creep in because of human fallibility, and human flaws like pride or jealousy force these errors to be propagated even after they are exposed. There's no difference here between science, religion and the sales business. Well, except that in the sales business, false pride will cause you to go out of business quickly.

In Christ,
Mike K.
