Subject: Confucianism is not a religion
In reply to: Tony Lang 's message, "Re: huge article about Christianity in Korea" on 08:32:50 06/07/04 Mon

Dear Tony,

Confucius did not teach religion, he taught a complicated system of social structure and interpersonal relations. Here is an article that may help to distinguish between Christianity which is based on faith in Almighty God and his Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Confucius is based on man's behavior and man's efforts, and even some occult element in the I Ching.

It appears that the inference is that Christianity has not affected the people as much as Christianity should? For example among ubfKoreans, we see them meticulously observing the old Confucius customs of respect to elders, keeping face, decorum, etc, and are willing to elevate those Confucius values above honesty, virtue, truth, accountability, charity, etc.

Cannot find out any info on Rev Suh. Maybe the Pres Church in New Zealand knows him? Anyway, his wiewpoint is not insulting, tho it is blunt.
